Welcome to the opening of Tender Toxicities! ”If I focus my attention, can I sense my liver?and what about all the pesticides, plastic particles, contaminated solutions, and inherited violences passing through it?”Mari Nurmenniemi’s first solo exhibition in Helsinki presents a video work and a textile installation that unfolds across the space, drawing the viewer into its embrace. Material histories of toxicity converge in the gallery and blend into one another: light, bodies, algae, repurposed fabrics, and stones and rebar gathered from contaminated soil. Welcome to the opening of The Blueprint! The exhibition presents fashion artist Alex Luonto’s key works from the past 10 years. Alex Luonto’s work in fashion plays with minimalism with intention, attention to detail, craftsmanship and breaking norms within the industry. Utilizing unexpected materials from metal nails to suiting wools and mundane everyday materials such as t-shirts, napkins and collectible objects turning fashion into ready-made art.Exhibition opening:21.05. 17:00 —>Galleriaia, Pengerkatu 22Opening drinks by @olarinpanimo & @albertonaniprosecco The exhibition is open until 30.5. ”Simulacra on tila, jossa todellisuus alkaa liukua pois itsestään ja sekoittua siihen, miten sitä esitetään. Ajatus viittaa myös filosofiseen simulacrumiin – kopioon, joka ei enää viittaa alkuperäänsä vaan alkaa elää omaa todellisuuttaan. Tässä näyttelyssä se tarkoittaa eräänlaista uudelleen tulkintaa jostakin, joka on ollut totta.Lähtökohtana ovat todelliset ihmiset ja hetket – jokin ele, katse tai muisto. Maalatessani jatkan tätä todellisuutta: rakennan sen ympärille omaa maailmaa, joka ei enää pyri olemaan uskollinen alkuperäiselle, vaan pikemminkin venyttää sitä esimerkiksi valoilla, varjoilla tai ehkä joillain objekteilla.Teokset ovat siis samanaikaisesti todellisia ja irtautuneita – siirtyneitä versioita jostakin, joka on joskus ollut olemassa.”Tervetuloa avajaisiin!Milloin: 24.4.
