🖇️ Save the date 🖇️ We are delighted to announce the opening of our new exhibition on 21 August! Galleri Image presents Heat Wave: Contemporary Brazilian Photography 🇧🇷 The group exhibition brings together works by Uýra, Val Souza, Gê Viana, Marco Antônio Filho, Diego Bresani, and Lívia Melzi, curated by Débora Moritz @deboramoritz. Bringing these artists to Aarhus during the Northern summer, Heat Wave invites audiences to experience calor humano — human warmth — as a way of connecting hemispheres, climates, and sensibilities through contemporary photography 📸 We warmly welcome you to join us for the opening! 📆 21 August 2026, 4-6 pm 📍 Vestergade 29, Aarhus As part of the exhibition programme, Galleri Image will also host a symposium on contemporary Brazilian art photography on 19 September 2026. Join us on 8 August at 2 pm for an afternoon of moving #image, conversation, and reflection at @galleriimage 📸 We are pleased to present a screening of works by Elisabeth Brun @elisabrun77, followed by a conversation with independent curator and lecturer Vanina Saracino @vanina.saracino How do media technology shape the way we experience and understand place? In Brun’s films, the camera becomes more than a recording device — it is a way of thinking with terrains, technologies, and environments. Through what she describes as moving image #topography, her works explore how perception is mediated and how we navigate worlds shaped by both human and technological forces. The programme includes screenings of Big Tech Blues (2025) and 3xShapes of Home (2020), alongside excerpts from Brun’s current research exploring mountains as a prism for understanding the relationship between human and geological time. Following the screenings, Brun and Saracino will discuss the camera as a tool for spatial knowledge, perception, and world-building, before opening the floor for questions. Talking About Photobooks 📒 On 26 October 2024 we will launch our new publication “Talking About Photobooks”! The book draws on the experiences and learnings of @photobookweek , a small festival dedicated for the last ten years to the photographic book as a medium of artistic production. The contributions are based on artist talks, panels, keynote speeches and presentations in the framework of the festival, edited and revisited to reflect the main aspects of the photobook. The brand-new book with contributions by some of the leading experts in the field was published by Photobook Week Aarhus in collaboration with Fw:Books @fw.books (Amsterdam). It was edited by Moritz Neumüller, together with Beate Cegielska, Jesper Rasmussen, and Anne Elisabeth Toft, with a superb design by Hans Gremmen @hans.gremmen and Kuan-Ting Chen. The plan for the event: 1 pm - Galleri Image will open its doors, where it will be possible to purchase the book. 2 pm - The talk programme will start (location: above the gallery in Aarhus Art Academy’s lecture hall). The exhibition 455 Days by Mohamed Mahdy @mohamedmahdyph, curated by Farida Youssef, is still open for visitors at Galleri Image! 👁 From Farida Youssef’s exhibition essay: “Mahdy’s efforts to remember become the focus of 455 Days. The exhibition is an acknowledgement of remembrance as a process shaped by how we articulate the past to ourselves. In the years since his military service, Mahdy revisited the memories from this period several times and in several forms. Each attempt is a search which conjugates remembering to reconstructing. What if all the iterations of his memories were brought together? One of the earliest images in the exhibition shows an incomplete portrait of Mahdy whose retrospection has been turned into a puzzle.” Through #photography, #archives, and personal reflection, 455 Days explores the fragile and evolving nature of #memory, inviting viewers to consider how the past is continually reconstructed in the present. 📆 8 May – 28 June 2026 📍 Vestergade 29, Aarhus 📸 @mikkelkaldal We look forward to welcoming you to Galleri Image! taken in Galleri Image by @galleriimage

Come and experience the exhibition 455 Days 👁 In 455 Days, Mohamed Mahdy revisits his memories as a military conscript in Egypt, where mandatory service kept him away from family and everyday life for 455 days. During his service, he secretly photographed moments of isolation and routine, creating images that resemble a personal diary. The exhibition brings together these photographs, letters, and AI-generated images of memories he could not capture. Feeling grateful for everyone who made this moment possible. In 455 Days, Mahdy revisits his time as a military conscript — moving from archival #photographs to generated #images, where remembering becomes reconstruction. The exhibition opens on Friday, 8 May 📸🥂 In 455 Days, Mohamed Mahdy searches for his memories as a military conscript. In Egypt, all abled men are required to serve in the army for a certain period of time. Mahdy began his service in 2020, lasting 455 days. For many conscripts, this marks the beginning of a new life — away from family, friends, and the lives they used to lead.
