Opening Soon: Jacob Davidson ‘Transmission’ at Gallery 144, Surry Hills

Jacob Davidson is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, painting and digital media. Drawing on philosophy, science fiction and histories of technology, he combines digital scanning and modelling with physical making to explore identity, perception and transformation. In 2025, he was awarded a Shark Island Kangaroo Valley residency through the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship.

Transmission brings together paintings, sculpture, lithophanes and installation to consider what happens as information passes between bodies, technologies, materials and time. What survives, what disappears, and what is changed in the process?

Last days to see Lyncoln Vick ‘Seeing is Believing’ at Gallery 144, Surry Hills

Vick grew up in Innisfail, Far North Queensland, before moving to Sydney to study painting at the National Art School. Seeing is Believing is his debut solo exhibition.

In Seeing is Believing, Vick draws on the tropical environment of Far North Queensland, where intense heat, cyclones and rapid regeneration shaped his experience of the landscape. His paintings carry this sense of movement into oil paint, with forms that appear to melt, decompose, emerge and fall away.

Seeing is Believing presents the debut solo exhibition of Lyncoln Vick, a Sydney-based artist working across abstract, landscape and figurative oil painting.

Shaped by Vick’s experience of Far North Queensland, the exhibition brings abstract, symbolic and landscape paintings into energetic conversation. Tropical weather, coastal currents and geological formations meet archetypal figures and mythological symbols, opening a dialogue between form and the formless.
