Ornament, reimagined. What makes jewelry precious: the material, or the idea? Nikki Couppee builds opulent, royal-feeling pieces from plexiglass, brass and found objects, inventing her own “gemstones” and composing each asymmetric piece by feel. Ashley Buchanan distills historical ornament into clean, contemporary form, folding powder-coated metal into petals and ruffles in blush, black, silver and bright pink. One maximal, one restrained. Both rewriting the language of adornment. Now at Gallery Lulo, 303 Center Street, Healdsburg. Open daily 11–5. Link in bio. All work availablein our online shop. #GalleryLulo #NikkiCouppee #AshleyBuchanan #WearableArt #HolidayGifts by @gallerylulo

Small forms, repeated. Naomi Mcintosh trained as an architect in London. Her wall pieces have a lyrical beauty born of precision and placement: hundreds of thin ash rings on steel, each turned at a slightly different angle, moving like wind through grass as their shadows shift. Karola Torkos, a German jeweler trained at the Royal College of Art, builds changeable jewelry by hand in silver, gold, gold-plated and oxidized metals, Ceramit enamel and recycled plastic. She cuts small circles, arcs and segments and links them into forms the wearer can rearrange, taking over, in her words, “the last step in the design process.” One works on the wall, one on the body. Both show how much a single repeated form can hold. Now at Gallery Lulo, 303 Center Street, Healdsburg. Open daily 11–5. From sketch to gold… Every piece begins on paper. Petra Class sketches in watercolor and pencil before forging, shaping and setting each design by hand in gold. This week’s newsletter features new work through October from Petra Class’ recent visit at Lulo for a fun and beautiful trunk show. See the temporary collection online or in store. Working from her studio at The Sea Ranch, Chanee Vijay builds abstract textile collages from European hemp, drawing on the landforms and fault lines of the coast. Each piece is overdyed, stitched and sculpted, with raw seams left exposed to create movement, depth and texture. Now on view at Gallery Lulo. Read more in our latest newsletter, link in bio. 303 Center Street, Healdsburg · Open daily 11–5 TextileArt #FiberArt #HempTextile #ContemporaryTextile by @gallerylulo
Two pieces from my ‘Inflorescence, Falling in Love with the Ground’ series are now at @gallerylulo in California. Inspired by the umbels of sambucus. Making these pieces feels much like creating drawings - a quiet sense of movement. Formed from repetitive, rhythmic circles of steam-bent ash. It is very lovely to have my work with beautiful Gallery Lulo once more. Enquiries: info@gallerylulo.com by @gallerylulo
Two new sheep arrived at Lulo from Thomas Hill. We will be sharing more of Thomas’ work in our upcoming newsletter. Subscribe in Link in bio. Thomas Hill builds his sculptures from mild steel wire, copper sheet, and copper mesh. Each piece begins as a drawn study of birds and animals in motion. For Hill, wire behaves like a drawn line, so every work becomes a three-dimensional sketch. Born in England and based in San Francisco since 1999, he creates for exhibitions and for corporate, public, and private commissions. Now on view at Gallery Lulo. #ThomasHill #WireSculpture #SteelSculpture #drawing #Healdsburg by @gallerylulo

Where jewelry ends and the puppet begins. New work from Niki Ulehla — jewelry designer, marionette maker, and performer. She trained first as a puppeteer in the Czech Republic, then as a jeweler at San Francisco’s Revere Academy, and has worked in both disciplines ever since — wood, paint, gold leaf and textiles alongside gold, silver and gemstones, each piece drawing from the other practice. “I understand my jewelry to be the exploration of isolated areas of a puppet.” New jewelry and marionettes, on view now at Gallery Lulo, 303–305 Center Street, Healdsburg. #gallerylulo #healdsburg #nikiulehla #contemporaryjewelry #marionette by @gallerylulo
