Ziyi Zhang at Latitude Gallery, New York. The Data-Body Paintings translate digital images and three-dimensional meshes into topographical surfaces using robotic fabrication. Their machine-produced structures are adjusted and painted by hand with oil pigment, pearl powder, epoxy clay, and other materials. On view until October 18th. by @gallop.world

Masamitsu Shigeta at Situations, New York. Wood panels are carved, painted in layers, and scratched back to define colors, textures, and pictorial elements. The paintings depict potted plants and cityscapes, and some extend imagery beyond the panel into physical space. On view until October 11th. by @gallop.world

Na Kim at Nicola Vassell, New York. The exhibition brings together three series of paintings, including modestly scaled cloud portraits. Five shows on the Lower East Side Gallop loved last week.
Nikki Maloof (@nikkimaloof) paints zoos, a restaurant and an abandoned picnic in “Menagerie” at @perrotin. The same grid turns up across the show, in picnic blankets, animal cages and furniture. Through Oct 17.

James Perkins (@jamesperkinsstudio) stretches silk over wooden frames and leaves them outdoors for months, buried, underwater or in the open. The works in “Nonsites Revisited” at @hannahtraoregallery were shaped on Fire Island, in the Gulf of Mexico, the Sonoran Desert, on Utah’s salt flats and in the middle of the Atlantic. Through Nov 14.

Ákos Ezer (@akos.ezer) paints long-limbed figures roasting marshmallows, knitting scarves and blowing soap bubbles outdoors in “Call of the Wild” at @platogallery. Through Oct 3.

Hanz Ronald (@hanzronald), born in Catanduva, Brazil, in 1996, has his first New York solo show upstairs at @uffnerliu. “A Charmed Hour,” curated by Stavroula Coulianidis (@stavroula_curator), brings together new paintings of mirrors, curtains, jewelry, smoke and a figure reclining in bed. Through Oct 31.

Alexis Hunter (@alexishunterimages), who died in 2014, painted birds, reptiles and half-human hybrids from Greek and Roman myth in the 1980s. “Chimera” at Totah (@davidtotah) is her first New York show since “WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution” in 2008, and comes forty years after her 1986 show in New York with Edward Totah. Through Nov 14.

Eric Spencer at @whitecolumns, New York. The exhibition presents photographs documenting early cutout text works made with construction paper, Styrofoam and Scotch tape.
