WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!!! .

Social Enterprise for Bridgetown and Greater Blackwood Region – Expression of Interest

🌱 An exciting idea is starting to take shape in our community — and we’d love to know what you think!

A group of local producers are exploring the idea of creating a shared space and Social Enterprise where local businesses and makers could come together to access:

🥕 A certified commercial kitchen
🛠️ Shared equipment and facilities
🛍️ A retail and distribution space for local products
🤝 A place to collaborate, connect and grow
🌿 A destination that could also attract visitors and tourists to our town

Have you been wanting to start a food business, launch a product or grow your existing enterprise, but haven’t had the facilities or resources to take the next step?

This could be an opportunity for you.

Right now, we’re simply asking:

Would you like to see a shared space like this in our town?

👍 YES — I’d be interested / supportive
👎 NO — not for me

VOTE IN THE COMMENTS or FIND THE LINK IN OUR BIO

There’s no commitment at this stage — we’re just gauging community interest and seeing whether there is enough support to explore the idea further.

More details coming very soon! 🌱 by @regenwa

Galloway Springs is excited to welcome internationally recognised soil and plant health educator Joel Williams to Bridgetown as part of his 2026 WA Roadshow.

Joel brings a fascinating perspective on the connection between soil biology, plant health, nutrition and the food we grow — combining scientific knowledge with practical experience from farming systems in Australia, the UK and Canada.

And this won’t be a workshop with a fixed agenda.

You bring the questions. Joel brings the knowledge.

Whether you’re a farmer, grower, food producer or simply curious about the health of our soils and the food they produce, come along with a question, a challenge or something you’d like to understand better.

The day will include a farm walk and practical discussion at Galloway Springs, along with delicious locally sourced catering.

Get your tickets via Humanitix or reach out to raquel@gallowaysprings.com.au

I can’t wait to have these veggie beds overflowing with leafy greens.

The fence line where the veggie beds are is where our visitors to our Tiny House accommodation drive past. I image putting up a sign to say “pick your own” as they drive by!!
The fruit trees we have ready to plant are a mix of citrus and I can visualise a little handful of mandarins filling up the cup holder in a guests car or being eaten on the last leg of the drive down the hill even before they’ve reach the cabin.

Growing and eating our own nutrient dense food is something that still excites me every mealtime. Have you ever tasted homegrown silverbeet pan fried in butter? It’s next level.

I would love to be the inspiration in someone’s life to understand how truely transforming eating your own food can be …. and taste is just one small part of that journey.

We’re thrilled to welcome Joel Williams back to our farm!!!
Joel was a guest speaker at @groundedaustralia 2025 and is back in WA on a roadtrip, we get to host him in Bridgetown.

This workshop we thought we’d do things slightly differently. Instead of us setting an agenda, we want you to guide how the day goes.

Have you got a burning question you want answered?

Joel has a gazillion topics up his sleeve he’d love to share, but we also wanted you to be a big part of the day too. Murray has his question ready! Nothing too big or small is off the table.

Tickets are live now.
Scan the QR code to take you right there , also the link can be found in Humanatix or contact us and we can share the link.

We are generously supported by @regenwa and @genuinelysouthernforests with this event. It’s been a pleasure working together. by @regenwa

This week we took a culinary trip to the seaside state of Kerala, in Indian.

A journey that started with a boy and girl in two very separate worlds. The boy grew up on a farm with running rivers in his back yard to fish in and the girl from the city who’s mother grew her vegetables on the terrace roof of the 4th floor of the family home, only to be discovered by her husband when the roof started leaking!
Their meeting wasn’t early in life, separate boy and girl schools and a focus on education, it wouldn’t be until later that their arranged marriage bought them together. Immigrating to Western Australia as a married couple, they dreamed of one day having a property with water running through it, a childhood memory. Then a discovery in Boyup Brook, a property backing the Blackwood river. A dream come true. Never losing their love of the land and food from their cultural heritage they now grow organic tumeric and provide farm stays with an optional food experience. @kavalamsony

Did you know yellow mustard seeds are just a black mustard seed with the skin on. If you choose yellow seeds you need less as they are more pungent and need cooking for less time.
Don’t forget with the start of a curry, get the oil ( preferably coconut oil with a high melting point) really hot so the mustard seeds burst open, add the curry leaves and infuse the oil to start before adding onion, garlic , ginger and the spices.

Food is such a wonderful way to gather people together . No matter your race, age, life’s experiences, financial status or occupation, everyone eats.

My wish for everyone gathered at our cooking class was to leave with a desire to move away from processed food and cook from scratch and next time they eat, share their meal - life is richer because of the people that gather at our dining table.

A wet but excellent day @sunnysidefamilyfarmau with @mullooncreeknaturalfarms @mullooninstitute .

Using just two words to describe what The Mulloon Institute are about it would be Water and Trees. They are particularly interested in the Blackwood Valley Catchment, the waterway the starts in Dumbleyong and finishes in Augusta, and observing effects of what happens as the water travels to the coast. What’s happening upstream and how it’s effecting us in Bridgetown and how can we better influence further downstream from where we are.

@sunnysidefamilyfarmau gave us an absolutely epic example of protecting their landscape through leaky weirs but also keeping the water clean and flowing beautifully downstream.

Their vision extends to reforesting beside this creek to return it to its original state. This creek runs through the state forest in the neighbouring property, traveling through the thick undergrowth where it comes under the boundary fence and enters Sunnyside Farm on a cleared paddock. No chemicals or synthetic fertilisers are used on the pasture.

I catered - no photos as per usual- but home baking for smoko and chilli mince and beans to warm up the tum tum for lunch.

Loved the visual of what we were learning about. Great job @sunnysidefamilyfarmau

A day that exceeded my expectations.
Barbara and David from Melville Park, Brunswick Junction certainly know how to entertain.
A wonderful cheese making workshop which was informative , fun, old fashioned hospitality and incredibly inspirational. They are practically newbsy at all this!!! And already winning awards.
Melville Park is only 5 years in and 3 of those cheese making. There is a lot more to come, David is a true visionary.

A fun fact. Cheese is made 1 of 2 ways.
Acid or rennet.
Acid- like a human stomach ( baby spew is curds right?!)
Rennet - same as the animal stomach of a ruminate animal - rennet is found in the fourth and final stomach of a cow
For example ricotta uses vinegar or lemon juice to form curds
and halloumi used rennet.

So many scientific words I’d love to have remembered, such a fantastic experience. I will never complain about a $15 block of cheese again. It took $10 worth of milk to make.

@melvillepark6224 run this same workshop once a month and the farm shop is open on a Sunday. Follow their insta page to keep up to date.

Our concentrated compost extract forms the base of our liquid range. Replicating nature - just as rain filters through a forest floor unlocking and carrying biology and natural signalling compounds that nourish healthy soils.
No high pressure, solvent extraction, acid hydrolyses or chemical synthesis here. Simple processes inspired by nature. #compostextract #gallowaysprings #westernaustralia #soilhealth #resiliencefarming by @regenwa

Introducing @resilience_farming and their new WA distributors @gallowaysprings

Meeting for the first this year in Victoria at the @groundedaustralia festival, Murray and Tony have been flat out talking ever since and this week we got to host Tony and Mandy Martin at our farm to launch their product and start our business partnership.

I’ve attached for your reading the different products.

What excites us the most is this opportunity sits so well with Galloway Springs and we want to be our own testimonial for the product. Murray is very keen to spray the compost extract all over our farm improving biology over the garlic field, the orchard and pasture.

Compost in liquid form is basically all the goodies that are in compost ( and there are many and multiple ) are extracted from the physical material and can then be easily sprayed over vast areas quickly and easily - 20L per hectare 1 - 2 applications per year.

@resilience_farming have been operating for 11 years and now have a bank of stories backing their product.
Huge success in over 60 vineyards , olive orchards, garlic , pasture to name a few. All reducing if not eliminating chemical use. Particularly for fungal issues.

We couldn’t be better positioned in the Southern Forrest to share this product. Honestly, we cannot wait to start telling success stories of our own.

There will be more updates on where and when to order.
