Only two more gyms for Pokemon Black

I have to say, Pokemon Black might have my favorite gyms for the series so far! They’re always so creative and fun.

Gym six being aviation/ bird themed was perfect for my travel day. I always get nervous whenever I fly, and this flight was sooooo bumpy.

I focused on catching pokemon and getting through the gym, which had plenty of cool graphics flying across the hangar with cannons.

In what felt like a very serendipitous moment, I finished the gym just as we got out of the thunderstorms and the sun began to set. I am excited to tackle the legendary pokemon soon, and maybe even get that much closer to finishing Black.

Is it time for more Splatoon?

Splatoon Raiders was my first game in the series, and I really liked it! Changing to squid form and building up and arsenal was very different from other titles, and I was very much convinced of how much I liked the game after finishing the final boss battle.

This spread took me quite some time to do, especially with stippling all the splats, but there’s something incredibly satisfying about going back to just pen and paper, leaving out prints and washi tape and all the other things that maybe make my spreads more polished, but less ā€œmeā€.

Lemme know which Splatoon game I should play next!

Splatoon Raiders: The Good, The Bad, and The Great

Here’s my full review! Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with this game. I was worried it wouldn’t be unique in its own right, but that changed, especially on the final battle sequence.

I like this game!

Majora’s Mask on the Switch 2 when?

I liked Ocarina of Time the first time I played it on the Nintendo 3DS, but playing Majora’s Mask right after blew me away!

I loved the three-day mechanics as well as the darker themes and overall moody world. I am so excited for the Nintendo Switch 2 release of Ocarina of Time, AND I hope Majora’s Mask is in the works, too.

Which Nintendo Switch Games to Play if You’re Not Getting Ocarina of Time

The Zelda library is extensive, and even outside of the Switch, there are so many great games to enjoy.
BUT, if that is the console you have right now, I 100% recommend checking your reused game shops, Facebook Marketplace, and even online sales for these titles.
One size does not fit all, so here’s some helpful pointers:

Echoes of Wisdom - Great if you want to see some nods to other Zelda titles but maybe don’t care as much for the battle component or puzzles. Playing as Zelda, it makes great use of sprites and creativity in order to traverse through the game

Link’s Awakening - A chibi-art Link remake from the Gameboy days. This one can get confusing at times, but with a tutorial, you’re good to go! It also has a phenomenal story.

Breath of the Wild - In my <personal> experience trying open world games for the very first time, it took me a while to get the hang of this one, but it was well worth pushing through. It has great boss battles, and plenty of fascinating puzzles. It also is a great predecessor for my favorite Zelda game (biased … duh.)

Tears of the Kingdom - It is worth trying BOTW first, then going into TOTK, especially because TOTK expands with a bigger sky and underground map. I love the ingenuity of getting to create your own designs in mobility, weapons, and much more. And, it has an awesome-inspiring final battle sequence. It is just so good.

Tears of Calamity - I didn’t finish this one, but from what I played, it’s a chill way to play Zelda with hack-and-slash mechanics. I loved Age of Imprisonment a whole lot more, but that is a Switch 2 exclusive.

If you’ve played these, which would you recommend?

Ranking All the Nintendo Switch 3 Games I’ve Played

A little over a year into owning the Switch 2 and my library has slowly continued to grow.
While ranking or rating does give me a better idea of how I’ve enjoyed games, Even these letters come with some nuance.

I still don’t think there’s anything wrong with playing an ā€œaverageā€ game. There can still be a lot of enjoyment in it, even if I didn’t find it to be my favorite.

And, of course, this list is VERY subjective - do with that information what you will.

What have been your S Tier Switch 2 games?

Without My Dad, There Would Be No GaminginYellow

Sitting in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum last night, I thought back to one particular Sunday working with my dad at the flea market. My dad often packed three or four big televisions and extension cables to show the soccer games. Even if he wasn’t selling the tvs, people would flock to his stall to watch.

That day Mexico was playing and the game was INTENSE. To add to that, the sun was blaring, and rolling blackouts kept happening throughout the stalls.
I don’t remember the score or even if Mexico won. I do remember the rush of excitement as crowds ran from stall to stall that still had electricity and was showing the game.

And sharing that moment with my dad.

This summer, I spent many afternoons with my him watching the World Cup. We watched every Mexico game together, something we had never done for before. He’d call me and confirm whether I’d be arriving on time, me letting him know I’d definitely be there.

I didn’t get to watch this soccer match with my dad, mostly because he absolutely would rather be anywhere than among big crowds. But, as the Mexican national anthem played, I thought of him. I thought of our family and all of the pride I have in being his daughter, of being Mexicana and Latina and sitting in a sea of green singing for our country together.

GaminginYellow wouldn’t exist without my dad, the man who not only introduced me to tech and video games, but also to soccer.

My New (To Me) Retro Console

I GOT A SNES! I was wavering between the classic purple GameCube and this console, but the Gameboy Advance adaptor was currently sitting at about $300, which was definitely more than I wanted to spend to play my GBA games on my CRTV.

I’m still excited to use my Gameboy Color games in this way, though. It’ll be fun playing on a slightly larger screen!

The Best Games of 2026 According to Metacritic Scores

Happy first of October! With only three months left in 2026, I love to look at the Metacritic rankings for games released and see what people have been enjoying.

Many of the titles I’ve played, like Pokopia and Splatoon Raiders, are here. I also am now interested in looking into other titles like Trails in the Sky and maybe finally trying Lies of P.

Are any of your favorite games of 2026 on this list?

Godzilla Night at Dodger Stadium

Words cannot express how full my heart is after this past week. I feel most connected to people when I get to share quality time on a more one-on-one level rather than big group settings or parties.

And, my people showed up for me allllll week long 🄺 I’m still recovering from all the special events and festivities, and I wanted to revisit the last day of 33.

One of my friends got us tickets to see the Dodgers and it was the perfect send off. We had our fair share of baseball foods, watched the Dodgers lose 🄲, and ended it all with a Godzilla drone show.

Don’t get me wrong, I am living for the stadium souvenir, but I also love that I got to capture so much of the night on my 3DS.
