Don’t get so caught up in surviving that you forget to live.

Growing up, a lot of us were taught that being a man means staying silent. “Don’t cry.” “Be strong.” So we learn to hide the pain, isolate ourselves, act tougher than we feel, or numb it with things that slowly become another prison.

Strength isn’t the absence of pain. Strength is carrying it without letting it define who you are. We have the right to hurt—we’re human, and that’s how God created us.

At 21, I still don’t have all the answers. My future is still uncertain. I still have questions I can’t answer and battles I’m fighting within myself.

This life thing will end soon… and that’s exactly why I refuse to waste it living like I’m already gone.

I refuse to let my struggles be the end of my story.

One step at a time. by @gamou.mb
