திருச்சிற்றம்பலம்

என்பொடு கொம்பொடாமை யிவைமார் பிலங்க
எருதேறி யேழையுடனே
பொன்பொதி மத்தமாலை புனல்சூடி வந்தென்
உளமே புகுந்த அதனால்
ஒன்பதொ டொன்றொடேழு பதினெட்டொ டாறும்
உடனாய நாள்க ளவைதாம்
அன்பொடு நல்லநல்ல அவைநல்ல நல்ல
அடியா ரவர்க்கு மிகவே. 2

Translation
Our Lord Civa has adorned His body with bones, hog's husk, shell of the tortoise. He wears a garland made up of datura flowers which contain golden coloured granules of pollen grains. He also retains the river Ganges in His matted hair. In this posture, having mounted on His bull along with His consort Uma Devi He has entered into my mind and stays there. Because of His presence in my mind the inauspicious stars such as Aswini, Aayilyam etc., all these eighteen stars and other stars, will always do good to me with all sincerity. For devotees of Lord Civa also these stars will do all good. 2

Meaning :
Our Lord Civan has embedded His consort Uma Devi on the left side of His body. Her shoulders are as smooth as the bamboo stems in between the two joints (node). He imbibed the poison and kept it in His larynx. He retains the moon and supports the river Ganges - both adorning His head. In this posture happily playing music on His veena, He has entered my mind and stays there. Because of His stay in my mind the nine planets (such as sun, moon, chevvai, budhan, guru, sukkiran, sani,raghu and kethu) will do all good without any evil. They will always do only good deeds to Civa's devotees. 1
