POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The “This Is Garbage Garden” playlist has reached 800 saves!😳

I posted about reaching 700 saves just four days ago, so it has grown surprisingly quickly over the past few days. I’m honestly amazed too.😧

Before Spotify made me this “This Is” playlist, I spent about a month promoting a playlist I had made myself, but it barely grew at all. Of course, I had released fewer songs then, and that playlist was structured differently from this one.

As I said when the playlist reached 700 saves, a playlist save does not automatically mean a listener, nor does this number necessarily mean that the project has become popular.

It is also a net total that can rise and fall, so I know that some people have left / will leave for all kinds of reasons. I will try not to get carried away by every rise and fall, and simply keep doing what I have been doing.😊

In particular, a comment UWE @wolfenhasen left about “Triptych+1+1” today gave me so much courage. I’ll keep expressing the things I think and feel through my work.🥹

Thank you so, so much! ☺️ by @garbage.garden.sn

omg… so many amazing things have happened since I started Garbage Garden, especially lately.😳

So… today, I had a short conversation over DM with a wonderful listener named Neil Yang.

Neil told me that they had added three of my songs, Fake, K-Y-H-O, and busy. being. Real., to their personal playlist.

Every song I’ve released is precious to me, but these three hold especially deep meaning. 😊

Fake is a song about myself. K-Y-H-O tells a kind of woman-centered story. And busy. being. Real. grew from my thoughts about a particular generation in Japan that my partner belongs to.

Imagining that “someone out there might be listening” and actually hearing someone say, “I’m listening! And added your songs to my playlist!” feel much more different than I ever expected.

Wow, it’s genuinely moving…🥹

This was the first time a listener had personally told me that they’d added my songs to their own playlist, so I wasn’t quite sure how to react. I was simply so happy!

That’s why I sent Neil a very long🤣 reply (sorry, Neil😂) to express my gratitude, and they kindly gave me permission to share this publicly.

It makes me want to keep doing better.

Neil, UWE, a very special listener who was the first to reach out and connect with me, and every one of you who has listened to my music, left me a warm comment, or taken the time to connect with me, thank you so much. I truly mean it. 🙏🙇‍♀️ by @garbage.garden.sn

My new single *Self-luminescent* arrives on May 29th. ✨

Bright, sparkling, a little overwhelming — and probably one of the most sarcastic songs I’ve ever made.

If you’re curious, the link is in my bio.
