An exhibition at @info.pshr in Berlin: three works where I explore the ritual act of handcrafting, and what level of VALUE it holds in a culture of fast-paced overconsumption. Making textiles, clothes and everyday objects by hand takes time, dedicated attention and patience to fail. Value measured in time and effort versus value measured in how marketable something is to the consuming masses and how cheaply it can be sold.
For years I have been working on projects that circle around the same theme: reusing material, repurposing culture, learning from history and emphasizing the sacred value of our clothes, our second skin. Through my deep dives into crafting history, I learned how people have historically used their creativity to make the most of the limited resources available. Everything served a purpose, either spiritual or practical.
The blood of the work, its life essence, gets consumed, and the veins are sucked dry.
This work is, in a sense, based on my personal battle with my own consumerist tendencies. What I can do is persist in my conviction that true value is worth creating, keeping, reusing and repairing.

As an avid thrifter, I keep stumbling upon bundles of beautiful handmade tablecloths in my local thrift shops. Over a couple of months I bought 2 kg for 95 kr / 9€. Hundreds of hours of handwork, sold off as cheap bulk scrap.
Some of the cloths are still stained by coffee from their past life as table ornaments.
The dress was inspired by «Thunder, Perfect Mind», a gnostic text that speaks entirely in contradictions.
Around the chest, the cloths are fused together by sections of iron chain mail, to further emphasize the contradictions. The armor-like structure represents the opposite of receptive softness: a system made to optimize, contain, and exploit vulnerability. Aesthetically resembling the lace in its construction.

Is this worth 95kr / 9€?

knitting my natal chart / sagittarius sun dress

in the heavens, the archer points his arrow directly at the scorpion’s heart. I like to imagine it as a celestial parallel to the fall of sophia in gnostic traditions, where divine wisdom descends into the raw intensity of the underworld, to transmute it into enlightenment. this is the point in the zodiac where the «I» launches out of the darkness and towards the light of the pleroma.

sagittarius, ruled by jupiter (connected to the tarot card temperance) is all about the journey of expansion, optimism and impatience (guilty on all charges).
it’s when I get in the space of relating to my sun sign that i’m the most positive, curious, comically mischievous, energetic and generally in love with the world 🏹
