I got into my car this morning to drive to the ferry and I started crying again, because I still can't believe what happened yesterday. My first time visiting the UK and going to FOTU, being accepted for the Concours in my first year and getting 3rd place in the event. I never expected it to turn out this way, but I couldn't be any happier or more proud.

All the hard work in the past 3,5 years of getting this car back to its former glory, trying to get this forgotten little thing into the spotlight and all the adventures we've been on together all led to this moment. Seeing the smiles on people's faces when they saw this car at the event and all the people I spoke with made me feel like I finally achieved my dream of giving the Justy name the recognition it deserves.

Thank you everyone for an absolutely amazing FOTU and for making my dream come true ❤️

The Justy was accepted as a pseudo-Kei car today at the @keicarsnederland meet in Almere! Truth be told, I didn't expect to be allowed on the terrain as it's obviously way too big compared to the other cars there (not something I'd usually be able to say!). But I went anyway and it's a good thing I did!

Saw a bunch of familiar faces and met some new ones as well, but best of all I got to nerd out about my new car that's coming soon, all the way from the land of the Rising Sun itself! I'm hoping to get some more confirmation about it very soon, but the car will hopefully be here (and maybe even road legal) before the end of the year.

Shoutout to @saaie_bolides for the company on the way there, @plankhond for the unexpected chat and all the other cool people who were there!

My final trip with the Mazda was an absolute success. We drove over 1700km in 6 days all across the Eifel and Mosel regions of Germany, with some very cool stops along the way including the obligatory Nürburgring visit (I didn't do a lap though).

The car held up amazing, though it lacked power on the uphill sometimes and the brakes were struggling with some longer downhill sections. It also got a little warm a few times, though that's to be expected when it's over 35°C and so hilly! But we didn't need to stop on the side of the road once and I got really good economy out of the little 4-banger! I got an average of 17km/L out of the car during the trip, which is around 5.9L/100km and 40 MPG (US). That's more than 3.5 km/L more than advertised from factory (and, surprisingly, a bit better than the Justy)! And when we got home, the car just rolled over 190.000km, quite the milestone!

But now it's time to give the Mazda some well-earned rest, as I've placed it in my storage unit and took the Justy out again. Not only because I want to keep the mileage down on the Mazda as I will be putting it up for sale soon, but also because there's a big Subaru event happening this weekend which I will be visiting. After that, it's a matter of waiting for my new car to arrive which is on its way to the Amsterdam port right now!

JCS 2026 was a huge success. Not only was I able to get both my cars there thanks to the amazing @toy0w0ta (who also dressed for the occasion as you can see in the final picture!), I was also able to catch up with so many people I hadn't spoken with in a good while. We also did a lovely photoshoot at the Bolwoningen in Den Bosch before heading to the event which was super fun!

As you may have noticed, I'm not very active on social media anymore. Life hasn't been easy this last year, and while there are a lot of positive things going on my mental health is not great at the moment. I'm working on a lot of personal things right now, but having an escape like JCS that gives me so much joy does really help.

That aside, the people who were present will know that the Mazda is for sale. I'd love to keep it for longer, but there's something very exciting on its way that I've been looking forward to for a long time. I'll share more when I'm ready to do so, but pretty much anyone I met at JCS will know what I'm talking about :)

Look who's finally back!

Tina is once again road legal and I have finally taken her all the way to our new home. It's been quite a battle, with some unforeseen rust issues and engine problems that meant I haven't driven her more than 200km in the past year.
After a lot of work, troubleshooting and trying I finally got her running good enough again to pass the bi-yearly inspection and I couldn't be happier sitting behind the wheel again! Now let's hope 2026 is a bit more positive and active for the little nugget :)

Well, we've officially moved in to our new house on the other side of the province and I've completed my first week at my new job as well. It's taken a lot of time, energy and money but we're finally settling back into a regular rhythm, so it's about time I explored some of the scenery around where we now live.

And the very first "pleasure drive" I made with Danny couldn't have been at a better time, after a very hot day the sun was setting and the air cooled down to the perfect temperature for a nice cruise with all the windows down. And I must say, I'm already impressed with the small area that I drove around! Beautiful scenery with lots of curvy backroads, a ton of water including the rivers Maas and Waal only a few minutes away and not a lot of traffic meant I really got to clear my head. I genuinely can't wait to go out again and explore more of the surrounding area soon!

Also, I finally fitted the replacement Italvolanti wheel I found recently to make Danny look completely original again (apart from the wheels of course). I also bought a lot of replacement parts for the suspension, but that will have to wait until I've got some more free time (and money :/).

Many people visited a whole bunch of car events all over the country today. I decided to go to one of, if not my favorite one out there: #kannetjesenkarretjes hosted by the guys over at @youngtimersdepodcast. It's always such a pleasure as you'll never know what you'll find, ranging from the cheapest scrapyard saves to the most expensive supercars. My preference is obviously more on the cheaper side of the car spectrum, but I enjoy and appreciate all car enthusiasm so an event this down-to-earth is a great way to experience both sides!

This edition was quite special for me personally, as I got to make some amazing pictures together with @k11.tristan's AWESOME looking Mazda 626 Coupe in the exact same color as Danny! But apart from that, a very special car arrived a little after I did: the Seat Marbella shown in the 3rd picture.

It doesn't exactly look like I'd have a connection with it, but nothing could be further from the truth. As this little turquoise Spanish nugget used to belong to my old neighbors who I grew up next to. Yes, this exact car! They owned it from 2001 until 2009, with a little owner swap in between as the car was gifted to their daughter as her first car. After I moved away in 2008, I never saw the car again until today. It was the absolute last car I'd ever expect to show up to an event, but what a great moment to be "reunited" with it!

So yeah, I had a blast catching up to everyone and chatting away for hours with the big freight ships in the background. I can't wait for the next edition!

What a great day today at @elkmerkwaardig's EMWalhalla! Of course I was part of the organisation again this year, which always means I'm running around feeling overwhelmed all the time. So I'm sorry if any of you happened to be there and I didn't run into you or didn't chat!

Like the previous editions, I forgot to take pictures of my own car(s) again, even though I had TWO to take pictures of this time around as I found a buddy willing to drive the Mazda there for me in convoy behind the little Justy. Though Tina wasn't feeling the best, she made it nonetheless to make people smile and remember the little Justy (of which there was another one belonging to @bogijsel at the event, finally I wasn't the only one!). So a big shoutout to @vanbrewerrestomods for sending me this picture they took ❤️

I hope everyone had a great time at the event and I hope to see you there next year again (and actually be able to talk with everyone for once lol)!
