One week on from our @immersivearts_uk annual event, The Big Thing! 🥳

A time was had! The three days were totally jam-packed. I got to DJ on Llandudno Pier which was super cute and enjoy @_lost_comms’s immersive performance exploring the acoustic world of marine life 🌊🐟

More highlights were @ladydangfua’s interactive talk Your Choice, Your Voice, Queer Chaos, hosted by the absolute legend @beehartyeah. Hanging out and experiencing funded artists’ work in the artist demo space. Spending time with our beautiful Immersive Arts team and awarded artists. @veritymcintosh’s little dance when sharing our incredible news (we’re running the programme until 2030!! 🥳). And being in a play with my bestie @engythedesigner at work.txt.

Huge big ups to @crossoverlabs for producing The Big Thing, our team, our artists and everyone who attended. There were 70 events across the 3 days! 🤯 taken in Llandudno, North Wales, United Kingdom by @garoess

Outside of being a comms manager and DJing, I’ve been spending one evening a week getting my arse handed to me at aerial hoop 🤸🏾‍♀️

Slow progress, mildly infuriating, but I’m enjoying it and one day I’ll be good…right? 🤪 @bristolhoopschool taken in The Island by @garoess

LAUNCH PARTY ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 🎉

Sunday 4th October 3pm-9pm at Loco Klub

A multi-genre day party to celebrate the launch of darkly funny adventure thriller BAD WINNER, featuring Kayco’ and band plus DJs GAROËSS, David Scott and If/then.

BAD WINNER’s misfit protagonist is a party animal. Music gives her the sense of collective belonging she lacks everywhere else in her life. The epic rave scene at the end of part one is set under railway arches and in subterranean tunnels, so it makes perfect sense to hold the launch at underground wonderland LOCO KLUB. With a line-up to match BAD WINNER’s bigotry-smashing, genre-blending, global adventuring themes, this party will energise and thrill as much as the novel itself.

Artists’ bio’s

KAYCO’ is a soulful and forward-thinking musician, mesmerising audiences with her comical yet thought-provoking lyrics. Accompanied by drums, guitar, bass and sax, together this five-piece meld a funky fusion of rock, ska and hip-hop that moves crowds physically and emotionally. Expect to be bobbin ya head to their original tracks in addition to some well-loved covers.

GAROËSS is a British-Namibian-Indian DJ and artist known for her high-energy, multi-genre sets rooted in global bass and percussive club sounds. Inspired by growing up in Bradford - where her sister’s R&B collection, local Bashment nights and the raw energy of Grime shaped her musical identity - she seamlessly blends Chicago House, UK Garage, UK Funky, Bassline, Afro rhythms and beyond. Having played across London, Leeds and Bristol and beyond for the likes of Bazuka, Club Djembe, Keep Hush, Daytimers, RepresentAsian and more, GAROËSS brings an infectious, rhythm-driven energy to every set, taking dancers on a genre-spanning journey guaranteed to bring heat to the dancefloor.

Geordie DJ DAVID SCOTT brings deep knowledge of the northern club and festival scene, energising dance floors with uplifting house, punchy club techno and rich electronic cuts.

Bristol-based DJ IF/THEN brings 20 years’ experience, seamlessly blending genres from D&B to dancehall to breakbeat and beyond.

Shwmae 👋🏽

It’s nearly time for @immersivearts_uk’s annual event, The Big Thing! 🥳 I’m excited to see who’ll be joining me and the team in Llandudno this year. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

What better place to meet your peers than on the pier? 🌊. Next Wed at 18:00-23:00, meet new friends, hang out with old ones, and soak up the seaside vibes.

Experiment-funded artists @_lost_comms will be performing, and I’ll be jumping on the decks from 21:00-22:00 to get us moving on the dance floor!

Hope to see you there! 💜
