A Fiddler on the Roof… REALLY?! It has been such a joy to have spent the last 7 weeks working on this incredible production with some of the kindest, most loving, supportive, and talented people in the industry. Getting to create something this special with a group of artists who are not only exceptionally talented, but the kindest human beings, has been an absolute privilege. Nothing but L-O-V-E for this brilliant team 🔤🐝 So, so, so grateful to have been back at Tweed & Company to stage manage one of my bucket list shows! I don’t know who I’d be if I hadn’t discovered Doctor Who back in 2013, as a 9-year-old. Growing up autistic and ADHD in a small conservative town, I spent my whole childhood wishing I could be “normal”, wishing I could understand social cues, wishing I could fit in, wishing that I had friends, wishing that I mattered and that I was important, and above all else, wishing that I was loved. Then, this strange, brilliant show taught me that I was. The Doctor made me feel seen. Even though they didn’t understand people and their emotions, they were the smartest person in any room they were in. They taught me that everyone is important, everyone is loved, and everyone has a place in the universe, even a strange little kid who felt completely out of place. That message didn’t just comfort me...it saved my life, many times. No matter how rough things got, Doctor Who was always there when it felt like the rest of the world wasn’t. That may sound silly to some people, but it’s the truth. Devastated that this years Christmas special is cancelled and the show has been put out to tender; but I do think it’s for the best. I hope that Doctor Who can find its feet again and soon come back to our screens bigger, better, bolder, fresher, and stronger than ever before! It happened in 2005, and it’ll happen again! But for now, thank you @russelltdavies63, @stevenwmoffat, @chrischibnallauthor , and the THOUSANDS of other brilliant people who kept this show going for 21 incredible years and to the many people who brought the Doctor to our screens from 1963-1989. 63 years of television about a police box flying through time and space is no small feat! Here’s to another 63 years! To quote my doctor, Peter Capaldi: “Everything ends, and it’s always sad, but everything begins again to. And that’s always happy. Be happy.” Even if it’s a while until the TARDIS materializes once again, we have 60+ years of episodes, 6 spinoffs, dozens of animations, 2 film adaptations, a TV movie, documentaries, hundreds of episode novelizations, THOUSANDS of @bigfinishprod audio adventures, original novels, comics, BRILLIANT fan projects, and SO MUCH MORE! If you told first-year me that right after graduating from my dream school, I’d be hired by that same school to stage manage a First Draft, I wouldn’t have believed you. It’s been such an honour being back at Sheridan stage managing Séance! I have so much love, gratitude, and awe for this incredible group of people. Margot, Kelsi, Griffin, and Athena; you made this process a dream. Thank you for being the kindest, warmest, and most passionate collaborators a stage manager could ask for! To the cast, the care you’ve shown for each other, the creative team, and the material has made this process an absolute joy. I have so much love and respect for each and everyone of you! Truly the best team on the planet. Closing this one is bittersweet, but I’m walking away so proud of all of us.
