Here's something most people don't realize: the bumblebees and butterflies you see hovering around a garden aren't just visiting, they're working. Bumblebees are critically important pollinators that carry significant amounts of pollen while foraging, and their colonies rely on blooming flowers from early spring through fall for their only food sources: pollen and nectar. Bumblebees are particularly drawn to tubular-shaped flowers like those found on salvia — plants that happen to thrive in Texas native and adapted landscapes.

At @kaleidoscopeparktx and The Terraces @hallpark, the native perennial and ornamental shrub palette was selected not just for looks, but to ensure continuous bloom sequences that keep pollinators fed across seasons. The @wildflowercenter has demonstrated that urban planned landscapes can successfully support pollinator habitat, and our team at Garrison/Jones is following that same evidence-based approach right here in the DFW metroplex.

When landscape architecture gets this right, a commercial campus becomes a genuine piece of urban habitat.

We think that's worth celebrating.

When you're enjoying a summer afternoon at The Terraces HALL Park, the trees around you will be doing far more than providing shade.

These intentionally placed native and adapted canopy trees will help reduce heat by blocking solar radiation and naturally cooling the surrounding air through evapotranspiration. They will also help keep the landscape healthier by protecting soil from extreme temperatures while reducing the cooling demands of nearby buildings.

It's one of the many ways The Terraces HALL Park is being designed to reflect our commitment to design, wellness, and environmental stewardship as we pursue both LEED and Fitwel certification.

Most places are designed to move rain away as quickly as possible. While developing The Terraces HALL Park, we saw an opportunity to do something more thoughtful.

Throughout the landscape, rain gardens capture and naturally filter stormwater before it retuns to the ground. These beautifully planted spaces do more than manage water, they help support a healthier landscape, create habitat for local wildlife, and add another layer of beauty to the outdoor experience.

It’s just one of the many ways the project reflects our commitment to thoughtful design, wellness, and environmental stewardship as pursue both LEED and Fitwel certifications for The Terraces HALL Park.

We are excited to welcome @avery.e.jackson to the Garrison/Jones Landscape Architects team!

A Dallas native and current rising junior at Stanford University pursuing a degree in Sustainable Architecture and Engineering, Avery is in the beginning stages of her career and is eager to learn from the Garrison/Jones team this summer. Inspired by the way in which good urban design can impact one’s experience of the world, she is excited to work alongside the team to ultimately bring communities together through landscape architecture. Having encountered the natural landscapes of both Northern California and Texas, she is looking to connect this perception as well as knowledge from her studies with the realities of project design and delivery, hoping to experience all aspects of what landscape architecture entails. by @garrisonjonesla

Every project begins with a sketch. The tower at Legacy Park has a softness that is in direct contrast to the corporate headquarters environment it sits within. From day one, it needed to be uniquely private, organic, and residential. taken in Legacy West by @garrisonjonesla

We are excited to share that Alice Martinez Rodriguez Park has won an Award of Excellence in Design Unrealized Public from Texas ASLA!

Alice Martinez Rodriguez Park (currently under construction), transforms a former stadium site into a culturally affirming and inclusive civic landscape for South Waco. Cultural storytelling and bilingual interpretation anchor the park’s identity, while multi-use trails connect surrounding neighborhoods to Waco’s expanding trail network. Ecological restoration along Waco Creek improves flood resilience and habitat while shaping immersive public spaces. Guided by robust community engagement and collaboration with disability advocates, the park integrates all-abilities play and accessible amenities throughout. The project demonstrates how landscape architecture can elevate cultural visibility, reconnect communities, and create equitable access to nature.
