17 weeks ago they cut my throat, fused two spinal vertebrae and put a ceramic/titanium disc replacement between two others. Today you can barely see a scar, I am able to walk and exercise more freely and I am on the lowest dose of neuropathic pain killers I’ve been on for years. Aiming for zero. Woohoo. by @garrymacworld

I went privately this morning to sit and grieve the loss of my friend John Kirby. Tears are appropriate as grief is the price we pay for love. As I wept there in the hazy summer morning light of LA, on the hillside where we laid his earthly frame to rest, I thanked God for deep friendships… then all of a sudden this happened… thanks John #johnkirbystudios Psalm 68:5

Ha. Someone from church snapped this pic today as I was doing an illustration to underscore my point. My favourite part of this is that Teddy the dog was not part of that illustration, him being on stage was a completely unrelated happening. I do love our church. He he. by @garrymacworld

I am a strong believer in the flow of divine health and wholeness. I’ve seen many miraculous things in my life that defy reason in these regards - far beyond any confirmation bias. Hand in hand with this faith I also believe that the beautiful work of the medical sciences to be a holy vocation. 200 years ago life expectancy was 32-35 years. This number was skewed downward due to horrendous infant mortality rates of 15-30%. If you did survive childhood you could potentially live to mid 50s. Yay! Bloodletting using leeches was one of the most popular medical procedures at that time. Oh how far we have come. The images pictured here are of my cervical spine the day after my surgery two weeks ago. They are a striking reminder of how amazing modern medicine is. I am grateful indeed to live in an age where we have moved beyond the leeches. Ha. Live long and prosper! by @garrymacworld

Grace Pastor!!!

Such an honour to receive this engraved pen as a gift last week. I will treasure it. It came with a beautifully written letter and some pictures of family highlights.

I dedicated this beautiful baby girl in 2014 at METRO Church. Then last year I was honoured to baptise her at METRO Church as an expression of her own growing faith as a young woman.

Walking through the years with people is just one of those things that gives me deep joy and satisfaction.

Life has its many heartbreaks and griefs along the journey from the cradle to the grave - but the GRACE of God is quite simply - AMAZING.

Having battled with constant pain for much of my adult life, I have a special place in my heart for those who suffer Chronic pain.

Today I had my C6/C7 spinal Vertebrae fused, and also my C5/C6 disc replaced with a Titanium/ceramic synthetic disc. Amazing hey.

It has been such a beautiful experience all day. The staff at Pindara have been outstanding and the post op pain management has been flawless.

Hoping this surgery may make my day by day pain experience along with the constant sense of electrical buzz running through my body improved.

Regardless, I am extremely grateful for the kind of expertise and care I have available to me.

Beyond that I am especially grateful for all my friends who’ve surrounded me with love and prayer today. by @garrymacworld
