How lucky are we to live in such a beautiful place and to have access to local ingredients!

We love cooking with local ingredients in intimate settings for folks who share the same value. We were lucky to do so on Gambier island on this beautiful evening with Harvest moon over this bountiful dinner celebrating some of our favourites @groundedacres @heartandsolcoastalfarm @purelyplantedfoods @thegoodloaf_sunshinecoast @bearranchfarm

The entire party felt so grateful for the fresh ingredients and the beauty in the flavours in of itself. 90% of this meal were all sourced locally, including the lamb! What a way to kick off 50th with the Harvest Moon.

Thank you for letting us be a part of it 🥳

What a beautiful way to begin CooksCamp in Pemberton. ✨
@cookscamp
The GFS Welcome Lunch celebrated BIPOC queer chefs whose food carries heritage, memory, identity and the power of making space at the table—fully and unapologetically.

This thoughtful CooksCamp 2026 lunch brought together some of the most exciting voices in Vancouver’s food community: @gather.chef of @nourish.kitchen.canada , @konnoga of @ponyroom_vancouver @lj.quinto @onovancouver and @reroot.kitchen, and @cookwithmiche of @wildlightrestaurant .

A powerful reminder that Canadian culinary culture is shaped by the stories, communities and flavours chefs bring to the table.

P.R.I.D.E.

Proud is one word that I feel in the progress we have made in our little world here. We have carved out space and kindness for each other for who they are and the stories they live.

Cool is another word that describes the honour that I feel in leading the FIRST meal celebrating BIPOC QUEER chefs and the raddest chefs kicking off Cookscamp with me @lj.quinto @konnoga @cookwithmiche

We’d like attendees to consider this when attending COOKSCAMP: You may think this panel is just for women—but it’s really about all of us.

This panel will explore practical ideas and meaningful changes that could help more women stay in the industry after having children. From workplace culture and scheduling to childcare, leadership and flexibility, we’ll look at what restaurants can do differently to make careers in hospitality more sustainable for parents.

Keeping experienced, talented people in our industry isn’t just good for mothers—it’s good for all of us.

Join Moderator Joanna Jagger for a discussion with guest chef speakers as they reflect on balancing career and family:

🎤Nicole Gomes (Cluck N Cleaver, Top Chef Canada), 🎤Cheryl Chang (Nourish Kitchen),
🎤Erika Weissenborn (Fresh in Your Fridge), and
🎤Louise Pickles (Hank’s Cowichan / Pickles’ Pantry)

Sponsored by Mind the Bar - Mental Health Support for Hospitality.

Every chef tells a story from their dish and how they cook. Heritage is passed down, identities shift and evolve. Chefs claim it courageously — never softened for anyone’s comfort 💯

Through our food and flavours we showcase what refuses to be flattened into one tradition, box, or easy label.

Created by woven heritage, identity and home is fusion. Fusion is not a trend, not a buzzword on a menu. It’s memory. It’s joy. It’s comfort, plated and shared with others 🍽️

This Welcome Lunch celebrates BIPOC queer chefs 🏳️‍🌈who’ve spent their careers fighting for space in kitchens that were never built for them. They’ve built new kitchens that reflect themselves and their journies. Where every part of who they are shows up to the table, fully, unapologetically and respectfully.

This is the new industry standard. Find tickets and more at 🔗www.COOKSCAMP.ca 🔗

Fill your cup with every sensation as we walk through the forest, and tides. As we share stories and allow Nature to show us the way.

True foraging isn’t speed — it’s attention. The land speaks in small signs: what’s hiding under the moss, a change in the air, a quiet knowing.

Join us Oct 11 on Cortes Island to forage, cook, and listen — led by me and Coast Salish knowledge keeper Candace Campo.

Cooking from the source brings a deep level of connection. For me it reconnects me back to me…

The entire process from start to finish- every moment and every detail is felt and the sensory experience is sending regenerative signals to my brain, my heart—- this is the daily WIN that I was looking for.

This blackberry sticky bread was picked this morning in my neighbourhood with my coffee in one hand, dog and my partner by my side. We picked just enough for this inspiration. This dough was created based on my senses- my touch, smell, all the senses locked into this creation. Patience as we waited eagerly so we can top it with our harvest. Thyme was an in the moment inspiration as I was checking the nearly finished sticky bread. I picked the thyme right off my deck. As I was picking each bud right onto the hot bread, the fragrance released was the affirmation that triggered a little happy dance.
This was the first affirmation that made my day ✌️

For those having a tough time, know you’re not alone 💜

Let’s explore and eat together. 🌲🍇

Some of my favorite days are the ones spent on the forest floor with Candace Campo — hands in the moss, picking wild berries, spotting mushrooms, learning the stories behind what grows here long before we ever call it “food.”

This is what Gather Chef means to me: not just cooking, but listening. Candace shares generations of knowledge — what’s edible, what’s medicine, what’s sacred — and we talk about how to carry those traditions forward, not as a relic, but as something alive in how we eat today.

Join us on Cortes Island, October 11, for a hands-on foraging and cooking experience with Candace and me. We’ll walk the land together, gather what it offers, and cook a meal that honors where it came from.

Spots are limited — link in bio to reserve yours. 🍄🌿

🥦Beet Hack! 👩‍🌾

In the past, I’d get a CSA box and it’s great for me because I love the surprise and the challenge, but that doesn’t fly with everyone or simply does not suit your busy life!

Here’s something fun I made with beets and I didn’t have to boil or peel it!!

Did you know that Paradise Valley lets you customize your box weekly!! Check them out @paradisevalleyproduce

What do you make from your CSA box every week?

You can join their CSA box program ANYTIME!!
