⚡️🎾 Let this be proof that summer’s not over yet! @stephrutan photographed by @gavinkylegreen at high noon in Portland. Behind-the-scenes: This shoot started with a fashion look, where I used a mix of natural light and off-camera flash. The early shots were special, but I found myself craving “something.” At the time, I didn’t know exactly what I was itching for, but I soon realized it was energy. I recently heard the phrase “photography that you can feel” for the first time, and it stuck with me. That quickly became my goal. So, when we transitioned into the lifestyle portion of the day, I chased more energetic results. So, how did I do it? I simplified. I put away the flash and went back to my roots, pure natural light. No diffusion, no reflectors. While some might think natural light is straightforward, it comes with its own unique challenges: dealing with harsh shadows and hot spots, tracking the sun’s constant movement, and properly exposing both subject and background. In moments like this, experience becomes the most valuable tool in my kit. And with the help of an amazing model (shoutout Steph she crushed it), we were able to turn natural light into an advantage, using shadows to create playful yet striking juxtapositions. Nike Swoosh 1 ❤️ We designed the Nike Swoosh 1 to give their feet the crucial tools they need for natural development and to help prevent foot issues in the future. Supersoft Flyknit and a variety of features combine to create a shoe that has earned the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance. My first ever project since joining the Nike Brand Management team has finally launched into the market! Our newest and most innovative footwear for the Early Walker (babies). I learned so much about childhood development, brand strategy, and Millennial parenting by working on this for the past year with so many amazing teammates! I couldn’t be more proud of my Nike team! A Well-Deserved Update: The past year has been a whirlwind, filled with many challenges paired with countless unforgettable moments. It all began with my decision to leave Tampa and return to my roots in Miami. Little did I know that life had another plan in store for me. I earned an opportunity to be part of the most iconic, groundbreaking, and universally recognized brand in the world: Nike. I took a leap of faith and accepted. Packing my bags (though most of them were never unpacked lol), I began a new journey in a new city, that had no familiar faces. Has it been a easy? No. Has it been worth it? Yes, a hundred times over. Life has taught me that the greatest achievements are forged through adversity, and I wholeheartedly embrace that. Now, as I approach the one-year mark, I would like to share some insights. The question that often finds its way to me is, "What do you do at Nike?" Well, I'm part of an extraordinary team—a collective of immensely talented individuals. Together, we shape global advertising campaigns that resonate and inspire today's and tomorrow's youth: Kids, the guardians of our future. I still want to become the greatest artist ever (iykyk), and this opportunity is an amazing platform to do that. TLDR; - I have joined the Global Brand Management Team at Nike - My account will now become a mix of my creative pursuits, brand projects, and more of myself And finally, I extend my gratitude to each and every one of you who have been on this journey.
