There’s something beautiful about a woman who has given herself permission to enjoy her life.

To celebrate herself. To try new things. To take up space. To be excited about what’s next, even when she doesn’t have it all figured out.

And perhaps that’s one of the best things about getting older. You begin to understand that there’s still so much life to live, so much to discover, and so many ways to surprise yourself.

These portraits are a celebration of her, just as she is, and all the newness still ahead.

Turning 50 came with a few questions for her. Would it feel different? Was it something to be anxious about? What did this next phase of life look like?

But as she began to embrace it, she found more reasons to celebrate, more room to try new things, and a renewed excitement for what was ahead.

One thing she said that stayed with us was the idea that 50 could be a fresh start. A chance to embrace newness, enjoy the journey, and give yourself permission to begin again.

There is something so beautiful about watching a woman bloom. And with Chioma, we had the joy of witnessing it.

During our first conversation, she shared what she wanted to see in her portraits: boldness, leadership, femininity, and the freedom to show up fully.

As she approached 40, she was embracing a deeper walk with God and discovering more of the woman she is becoming. She wanted images that would honour her roots, reflect this new season, and hold the joy of it all.

And then came our time together. 🥹

We laughed. We danced. We created. With the music she loves filling the room, we watched her relax, express herself, and embrace the moment. Her smile, her playfulness, her presence… the bloom in Chioma was undeniable.

Chioma, thank you for trusting us with such a meaningful milestone. It was a joy to create these portraits with you and witness the light you brought into the room.

Happy 40th birthday! 🎉 May this new chapter bring you deeper joy in God, confidence in your voice, and the freedom to embrace every beautiful part of yourself.

Years ago, we were already asking those questions. We knew there was something beyond the light, the pose, the outfit and the final frame.

Years later, that question has shaped everything about the way we create.

The conversations before the camera comes out.
The preparation.
The direction.
The little moments in between.
The feeling of being seen.

A lot of people think they are paying for the images ,but they are actually paying for the hours before and during it, the one where someone helps you see yourself clearly, maybe for the first time in a while.

It’s easy to forget what you actually look like when you’re not posing for a camera.

Most of us only know our “”picture face”” the guarded one.

..but somewhere in that hour, it drops, and what’s underneath is usually much better than what you expected.

Some things start long before anyone else can see them.

For @shininglight_flo, @theshininglightshow began as an idea, a desire to create a space for conversations about faith, purpose, identity and the things young people are actually trying to figure out.

In 2022, she decided to give that idea a life.

What started as a passion project has grown into a platform where people come to hear honest conversations, learn from other people’s journeys, ask deeper questions and, sometimes, find encouragement for a season they are walking through themselves.

And perhaps that’s what makes the story so special.

She didn’t simply create another show. She created a room for conversations that matter to her , and invited other people into it.

Through thoughtful conversations and personal stories, The Shining Light Show has become a space where people can find perspective, encouragement, and sometimes the language for things they have been trying to make sense of themselves.
