Since the PLHost effects wore me out a little I looked at something else to change pace. Yesterday I showed I got the Drumlogue unit to talk to a MIDI device using SysEx, such as the Akai Fire.

I love this device, as it fits a Tracker style (like Fruity/FL does), but before getting all of this working on the Drumlogue, it might be test to get a workflow settled. Currently my Regroove Tracker for the Drumlogue can not really report back tempo, song order, etc and that is because no panel access is possible as of yet. If I can get access somehow to this it would be great, but otherwise I can drive the OLED on the Akai Fire and actually show the progress of the play cursor and cells.

This is why I started FireTracker. It used the same playback routine, but loads using libmad, and drives the Akai Fire using libfeuer. I'll first target a RaspberryPi, and slowly move to other devices when the workflow (and feedback) are working.

… will only be available through a possible donation model asking for modifications and backports. The rack modules were never intended to be for sale, but also not open sourced, as they served as development tests. However, people asked for the release but due to a restrictive license, this is not really possible. On Itch you will find older versions at no cost, that serve as a demo. If you think you would like to see updates, let me know … by @gbraad

Currently working on more OctaMED support, as I want to add some form of editing to the DrumLogue unit. As think this can serve as a start for an Electribe2 alternative firmware I want to make. Bought the machine, but unfortunately only arrived after I already left The Netherlands. Also, want to add an Ableton Live extension to allowed importing med/mmd/mad-files.

I also have a small library to read adf files as an archive, as this can help exchanging files between the emulator and my replayer routine. I think adding it to DrumLogue can help, but just how to display/represent it on the device. It already works on https://music.gbraad.nl/rfxplayer by @gbraad

Currently visiting my family, but have been thinking and plan to work on some things when I return. I will improve the RS1 engine to allow for the LFO to work properly, as someone wanted to add a very specific drum synth sound and they want an LFO to achieve this. The other is that I will work on more (Octa)MED integration for the tracker, especially as playback routine and conversion. Part of this will be used for an Ableton extension and using in my tracker editor and remix (Regroove) engine.

I used MED v2 for a long time, got OctaMED v4 from a CU Amiga coverdisk, and eventually v6 Sound studio. To me, CU Amiga was a software subscription! Every month new stuff from game demos, public domain or full versions. I really enjoy seeing people use Protracker or OctaMED to still create new tunes, such as Pete Cannon and Ian Ford (Hoffman). I want to use mod files as a groovebox format, or at least easily convert between other formats. This is part of my Madness tracker and libmad.

Regroove Tracker; a replay routine for .mod and .med I am working on. Have this working on VCVrack, Korg Drumlogue, etc. The idea is to use this as a groovebox with a reusable format. On Linux/Windows/Android this can use to control external MIDI. Otherwise, like on the Korg you can control playback; loop pattern and range, queue next/prev, mute channels, etc. next steps are to integrate also with #Ableton and #Bitwig beyond the VST i already have.
