WE ARE A LOYALIST TAVERN! When we think of the American Revolution, we think of Patriots and the Midnight Ride. But what about the families who risked everything to advocate for peace with the King? The Golden Ball Tavern Museum tells the untold side of the War of Independence: the Loyalist experience. The Revolutionary "Tory": In 1770, Isaac Jones opened this tavern. In a colony exploding with rebel fervor, being a Loyalist (or "Tory") meant living with a target on your back. Visit us to learn about the "Weston Tea Party," the shunning of Isaac Jones, and the secret visits from General Gageā€™s British spies. Discover how Isaac ultimately changed course, joined the Patriot cause, and helped build the new republic. Two Centuries of Secrets: Six generations of the Jones family lived in this exact house for nearly 200 years. Instead of freezing the home in one single moment, weā€™ve preserved it to expose the structural layers of time. Walk through our rooms to physically see how one family adapted from the 1760s to the 1960s. Best of all, over 85% of the furnishings and artifacts on display are completely original to the family! Plan Your Visit: We are located just 15 miles west of Bostonā€”the exact miles walked by British spies in 1775. Come challenge what you think you know about the birth of America! Thursdays (Year-Round): 10:00 AM ā€“ 4:00 PM Second Sundays: 1:00 PM ā€“ 3:00 PM (Join us this Sunday, July 12th!) Where: 662 Boston Post Rd., Weston, MA Experience: Guided tours with our enthusiastic docents. We are entirely self-sustaining and proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places. ONLY 3 WEEKS TO GO! Join us for a lively online talk on Thursday, October 15th, 2026 at 7 p.m - with historian and author Brooke Barbeir. Eighteenth-century Americans consumed a staggering amount of alcohol compared to us today. Drink influenced their politics, built and sustained their relationships, and drove the economy. Booze was not a small part of colonial society, nor covertly consumed in private spacesā€”it was integral to American life. When the colonists rebelled against the British Empire, this culture of drink and taverns helped foster revolution. Historian Brooke Barbier will talk about the influence of taverns and drinking culture on the American Revolution, particularly in Massachusetts. Youā€™ll hear about the way alcohol influenced colonial resistance, soldiers on both sides of the war, and the creation of a new nation. You'll see famous founders and lesser-known Patriots drink their way from British subjects into Americans. Don't miss this enjoyable evening event!
