Hello all….

This is a tough one, but it has been something I’ve considered for a while, but more so of late.

Give Crohn’s A Slap From Me is coming to an end! The project has made it to 10 years of raising awareness. When it set off on the journey, I never thought it would get that far, but how wrong I was. Sending out those first labels, little did I know how it would be received or how far it would go.

In the last few years it’s been a struggle. I’ve been struggling with some health stuff, not Crohn’s, that seems to be taking care of itself thanks to the meds and lifestyle changes. No; the issues have been head stuff, which I am working on. I’ve realised I just don’t have the time, energy, head space and a loss of passion for the project. I’ve found it difficult for a number of years to maintain a level of relevance and keeping visible and this need to keep on top of things has added to other issues going on in my head.

The project was always a collective effort, a lot of the input being from more than just myself. It’s been difficult to keep this going. I’ve always had a bit of imposter syndrome with the project, but have always been so humbled by people’s generosity and kindness to get behind a project like this. We’ve really pushed this hard, but the time and finances needed to really keep it on track are just not there, and how my brain works means I’ll obsess over something to a point, then get bored and move to something new…so to keep it up for 10 years is a feat in itself!

If you’re reading this and you’ve contributed, fucking hell you’ve done this, you’ve been a part of this, without you the projects just an idea I had in the shower!…the real project is you and your craft! You have all been so positive and so fucking kind, so helpful and trusting in me to use your work the right way!

If you’re reading this and you’ve been down from day one, a fellow IBDer, again I’m indebted to you. I love you and what you’re about, I love you inside out, I love your determination, I love your soul, I hope this has helped you and I hope you can continue to take your positivity forward. You people are strong as fuck, you continue to prove yourselves wrong… by @gcasfm

A crazy 11 days in New York City ended last night, back to London feeling a little sad, guts are in denial, but can only take greatness from the experience. Our holidays are always full on, packed to the rafters with things to do, this was no different. Met some amazing people over the time we were there, and many we will catch up with next time!! Reposting this image from our stories, a photo of two characters that epitomise everything that is creative and cool, historical and artistic from an urban perspective of New York. A real honour and stroke of luck to meet @henrychalfant and @foodrap @kosherican at the @bronxmuseum. If you’re in town, make the trip up to the Bronx to check Henry’s Art vs Transit exhibition, running til next March.
Anyway thanks New York for another great adventure. Plenty of stickers stuck, although a few had vanished pretty quickly.

Inadvertently GCASFM and my work life have managed to get into the latest issue of @greenwich.peninsula free paper. Any publicity is good yeah?? My colleague @s.n.fleming and I were interviewed for @bureau.club and in a stroke of luck @marcusjakeart @art.firepit was interviewed on the opposite page! Tickets have flown out for tomorrow nights Private View of ‘Changing Colours’ at @art.firepit . Just a short hop from Greenwich North Station…So don’t let the rain come into play (bring an umbrella!) there will be beverages available or bring your own, check out a real mixed bag of art, a selection of Dr Blink’s private collection, as well as our table of slaps….Sure to be a great night, in a up and coming unique space.

Stop…Frieze! To fall into perfect place with @friezeofficial Festival week, there will be an epic exhibition Changing Colours at @art.firepit on the edge of the @designdistrictlondon on Greenwich Peninsula this coming weekend 13th (Private View)-15th.

Blinded by your lights! Super happy for the response, good vibes, love and power from the last post. The project I imagined all those years back wouldn’t be possible without you, your support and for some donation of time, talent and craft. Keeping relevant and remaining visible has always been front and centre…And with that in mind, there will be some great things happening with ourselves and @art.firepit in the future, keeping that engagement visible and there for you all to see…this is your project, it was built for you!

Best I’ve felt Crohn’s wise, for such an extended period. I’d say despite some questionable blood markers…gut wise the Stelara and self management have sat me in the remission seat for well over two years. I know we can’t rest on our laurels, and there are other issues to deal with besides gut pain, but it’s good to have less obstacles.

I don’t like looking at myself at the best of times, this platform is generally solely for the art side of things…but I wanted to remind myself that the struggle has gotten me to a better place. Still trying hard to push the project forward, still dealing with my head and it’s ability to hold me back at times with anxiety and self confidence, still trying to keep grafting to pay those bills, juggle life’s complexities and living rather than existing…:it’s a dirty job kids, but we are doing it!

Always! Recently displayed at @art.firepit we will continue to rotate the submissions, so keep an 👁️ out for the next open evening. This @markchronic hits the nail on the head, utilising the @realpeterock @therealclsmooth lyrics as the message. The ‘Crohnicles’ our ‘retrospective’ archive of submissions continues to expand, so us finally sharing them is a blessing. We hope for more new works in the future….til then keep this frequency clear!

Hello all! Reaching out to the artists that have helped over the last 9 years.

The project is looking to reignite it’s desire to host live painting/drawing events here in London. We have a place to host it, we just need the artists to make it happen. There’s no dates set, we are just putting out some feelers, to see who is interested.

We are located between the River Thames and Design District Greenwich at @art.firepit

There are so many day to day distractions and obstacles. Staying employed and paying bills aside, life throws a fair share of curve balls without trying to stay healthy(ish).

Finding the odd photo and re sharing it for the umpteenth time isn’t a bad thing, just means you want to get back to a place where things were on track. Don’t let the distractions and obstacles derail your plans….keep pushing forward beyond the outside noise!

Great way to spend a Saturday morning. Meeting up with @andreviegasleitao and @marcusjakeart to finally unearth a taster of the submissions for the Firepit Studios Open Evening on July 14th 4pm-9pm.

It’s been 9 years in the making, many ups and downs through the years, but finally we are able to share it with you. Feel free to swing on by, bring a friend and a drink and check out great art, in an amazing new space next to the Thames.
