Architecture and Interior filmmaking should never feel rushed.

It’s not about arriving, collecting a few clips and turning them into another post for likes.

A well-designed space deserves more consideration than that.

The way light moves through a room.
The relationship between materials.
The transitions from one space to another.
The details that reveal the thinking behind the architecture.

These moments take time to observe and understand.

For me, architecture and interior filmmaking is about translating design into movement, atmosphere and emotion — creating something that communicates not only what the project looks like, but how it feels to experience it.

Produced with intention.
Created with purpose.
Made for longevity, not just virality.

Because trends move quickly, but considered architecture — and the story behind it — deserves to be remembered.

Stepping into my new era as The Vision Alchemist. Where I take your architectural vision, interior design mastery, and custom home building craftsmanship.

Filming this award-winning Futureflip project reminded me exactly why I do what I do.
This home crowned “ Best Home in NSW “ wasn’t just a build.
It was a collaboration between architects, interior designers, builders, construction services and a client who backed the vision all the way.
Every detail, every junction, every complex element
 executed with obsession.

And capturing it through my lens was an honour.

And maybe this hits different because November is the birth month of GCC VISUALS. We just turned 8 years in the creative industry.
Eight years ago, I didn’t know where to start or how far I could go.
But I kept pushing.
Creating.
Failing.
Learning.
Believing there was something in me worth building.

And here we are.

If you’re an architect, interior designer, or custom home builder working on a project that deserves premium storytelling —
a project that carries the same intensity, precision, and emotion you poured into creating it.

That’s where The Vision Alchemist steps in.

Your vision.
My lens.
A story that elevates your brand, attracts premium clients, and positions your work at the top of the industry.

Now taking bookings for architecture, interiors, and custom home projects.
DM to lock in your shoot.

Your name is probably the most valuable thing you put on your work.

Because long after the project is finished, people remember who stood behind it.

This film, commissioned by Stetson and Fandr, reminded me of something I see often when documenting builders, makers and craftspeople:

The best work isn’t just about how something looks when it’s finished.

It’s the decisions nobody sees.
The details that would’ve been easier to ignore.
The extra time spent getting something right.
And being able to stand beside the finished work and say,

“My name is on that.”

Trends change.
Shortcuts eventually show.
But good craftsmanship has a way of lasting.

And so does a good reputation.

That’s why I love documenting stories like this.

Not simply to create another piece of content, but to capture the people, values and standards behind the work.

Because sometimes the strongest brand story isn’t about telling people how good you are.

It’s showing them what you’re willing to put your name behind.

Things that last deserve stories that last.

Commissioned by Stetson and Fandr.

Architectural Filmmaking & photography in Canberra, Sydney, South Coast and Southern Highlands should help people understand the thinking behind a building.

You have spent months considering the light, the proportions, the relationship to the site and how someone will move through the spaces. Those decisions deserve to be visible when the project is shared.

A wide photograph can explain the composition. A detail can reveal a material junction. Film can connect the spaces and give someone a sense of the experience.

Before documenting a project, I want to understand what matters to the architect: what the brief asked of you, which decisions shaped the result and what you hope people notice.

That conversation helps shape a useful collection of photographs and films for your portfolio, client presentations, publications and award submissions.

GCC Visuals provides architectural photography and filmmaking across Canberra and surrounding areas, with selected NSW commissions by appointment.

Have a project ready to share? Message PROJECT with its location, current stage and the story you want to tell.

You appreciate a home differently when someone helps you understand the thought behind it.

📍 Rivendell, Kambah, Canberra
Original architect: Laurie Virr
Custodian and restoration architect: Shannon Battisson
@rivendell.canberra
Images by @gccvisuals

On an architecture tour in Canberra by @aaa_ausarchitecture , I met the lovely Shannon Battisson @_studio.sdb, who welcomed us into Rivendell in Kambah and shared the story behind this remarkable home.

Designed in 1975 by Laurie Virr for his own family, Rivendell brings together so many thoughtful decisions. The curved windows welcoming the winter sun. The warmth of timber and brick. The way the rooms stay connected to the garden.

Decisions that shape how everyday life feels.

And then there’s Shannon’s part in its story. Her work to restore and care for Rivendell means Laurie’s ideas can continue to be experienced, understood and passed on. There’s something quite moving about one architect caring so deeply for another’s work.

As an architectural filmmaker and photographer in Canberra, this is what I want to keep learning.

Why was that window placed there? Why those materials? How does the light change throughout the day? What makes you feel comfortable enough to sit down and stay?

Understanding those things helps me decide what deserves attention in a photograph or film.

Thank you, Shannon, for your generosity and for helping us see the care behind Laurie’s design.

360 Building were the project builders. Hardwood Projects handled restoration and handcrafted timber work, replacing rotted framing, rebuilding curved fascias and cedar detailing . While Shanons family and friends completed the new roof shingles.

More than 50 years after Laurie designed it, his home is still giving people something to think about. That says a lot.

Before someone contacts a builder, they’re often looking for something that gives them confidence.

Can they see the care in the finish?
Do the spaces feel considered?
Can they picture trusting this team with their own home?

For S&N Projects in Canberra, I created a visual library of 20 project photographs, six drone photographs, one walkthrough film and a 30-second vertical film.

Each format had a different job: show the spaces and workmanship, explain the wider setting, and help someone understand how the home connects.

The project belongs to the people who brought it to life. My role is to help their work come through clearly.

For Canberra home builders, architectural photography and film can continue supporting a project after handover, through the website, proposals and the stories you share over time.

If you have a home nearing completion, message PROJECT with its location, current stage and expected handover date. We can talk through what is worth capturing and how to fit it around your team.

Most people will only ever see the finished home.

The clean lines. The kitchen. The landscaping. The furniture carefully placed for the photos.

But a builder sees something completely different.

They remember standing on the slab when there were no walls. The conversations on site. The measurements checked twice. The problems that needed solving. The trades who turned up early. And the hundreds of decisions made before anyone could really see what the home was going to become.

That’s why I think the construction stage deserves to be documented too.

Because this is where a builder’s reputation is actually being built.

Not at handover.

Here.

In the structure. In the details that eventually disappear behind walls. In the people doing the work. And in the decisions that nobody will notice when they’re done properly.

For a home builder, these images become more than progress photos. They show future clients how you build, not simply what you’ve built.

And years from now, when this is a finished home and someone is sitting inside looking out over that landscape, these photographs will tell the part of the story they would otherwise never get to see.

The finished home gets the attention.
The people building it deserve the story.

Some homes impress you. Others make everyday life feel a little easier.

That’s what I liked about filming this home in Deakin Canberra act

Yes, the finishes are beautiful. The warm timber, stone, natural light and all those small details are easy to appreciate. But beyond how it looks, I think the real value is in how easily you could imagine actually living here.

For a downsizer, having five bedrooms across one level means you can simplify without necessarily giving up the space for family to stay, a home office or the things you’ve spent years building your life around.

For a first-home buyer who has the opportunity to enter this part of Canberra, it’s the kind of home you’re unlikely to outgrow quickly.

And for an investor, it’s worth looking beyond bedrooms and bathrooms. Good design, a considered floor plan and a location people genuinely want to live in are qualities that can continue to matter long after the listing photos disappear.

But I think the best property test is much simpler.

Can you picture your normal Tuesday here?

Coffee in the kitchen with the morning light coming through. Working from home in a quiet corner. Family dropping by on the weekend. Opening everything up in summer and letting lunch turn into the afternoon.

Because eventually, a property stops being about its list of features.

It becomes the backdrop to someone’s life.

THIS ISN’T AN ORDINARY BUILD & LISTING.
SO WE DIDN’T FILM IT LIKE ONE.

A prestige residence deserves a visual campaign designed to attract the right buyer—not simply more views.

When a home has this level of architecture, craftsmanship, scale and detail, the job isn’t just to walk through every room with a camera.

It’s to understand what makes the property desirable.

The arrival.
The materials.
The proportions.
The light.
The lifestyle.
The feeling someone gets when they imagine themselves living here.

That thinking started well before we pressed record.

From planning and shot direction through to production, photography, filmmaking and post-production, every decision was made around one question:

How do we make the right buyer stop, feel something and want to know more?

Because premium property marketing isn’t about creating the loudest video.

It’s about creating the right perception.

And for builders, architects, interior designers and property professionals, strong visual assets do more than help market one home.

They document the quality of the work, strengthen the brand behind it and continue working long after the property campaign is finished.

Proud to have brought this one to life alongside an incredible team.

Built with intention.

A home like this isn’t just about how it looks when it’s finished. It’s about how all the decisions made along the way finally sit together.

This Southern Highlands project by @lifehomebuilders is a good example of that.

The brickwork, expansive glazing, herringbone timber floors, marble, detailed joinery, layered lighting and the contrast between the bright living spaces and darker retreat all tell part of the same story. Even the outdoor kitchen and connection back to the landscape feel considered rather than added on.

That’s what I wanted these film and photographs to hold onto.

Not simply a collection of wide room shots, but a visual record of the craftsmanship, materials, proportions and smaller decisions that make the finished home recognisably theirs.

For builders and interior designers, that kind of documentation becomes more than content for the next Instagram post. It becomes part of the portfolio you can keep referring people back to — on your website, in proposals, awards submissions, publications and conversations with the next client who wants to understand the standard of your work.

Some renovations give you more space.

The good ones make you look at the whole home differently.

Recently commissioned by Woodland Building to document this newly completed renovation — and there’s a lot to appreciate here.

The natural stone against crisp white forms.
The deep window openings.
The shadows created by the pergola.
The connection between old and new.
And the way the architecture sits amongst the established landscape rather than competing with it.

For us, photographing a renovation like this isn’t simply about getting a few nice photos at handover.

It’s about documenting what the builder actually achieved.

The craftsmanship.
The material choices.
The difficult details that now look effortless.
And the transformation that future clients need to see when deciding who they trust with their own home.

Because once the tools are packed away and the project is handed over, these images become part of the builder’s reputation.

They live on the website.

They become the portfolio.

They get shared on social media.

They support awards, capability documents and future proposals.

And months—or years—from now, they can still be helping the builder win the next project.

GCC Visuals is now accepting a limited number of Spring 2026 architecture, interior and completed home projects across Canberra ACT and surrounding regions, with selected NSW commissions.
