Hi everyone, this past year has been a challenging one to say the least. My Dad passed suddenly in late November of 2024. Losing him tore me apart in ways I couldn’t fathom. His passing made me question everything about our past, present, and my future-without him, which I’m still doing. He started as my first coach and turned into my biggest fan. When I stopped playing on the field I worried about a potential strain on our relationship but he /never/ stopped supporting me. As for my makeup, though he didn’t quite understand or really even like it, he always complimented me on how beautiful I looked and asked each time how I’d progressed. One of our favorite things to do together is to go to McBride’s for lunch, a burger and a Reuben each time. We fell into a daily routine of him bringing me to and from work each day. Id split my bagel and toast with him in the morning then we’d complete our Dunkin run. By the time I got to work he’d drank half my coffee-(he never wanted his own though). Even when we weren’t living together I was still on the top of his mind (next to our dog of course). His passing made me treasure our small moments more than I could’ve imagined, I’d do anything to have a half-drank coffee in my hand right now. I can’t come to terms with how he passed, and I don’t know if I ever will, but I can continue to live my life for him. Writing this feels strange, because I can’t find the right use of words to properly describe this feeling of loss and gratitude for having him in my life. I love you Dad💞 by @gcglows
