SGA is so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend GCSU’s Day at the Capitol on March 10th with President Cox. We were able to sit in on House and Senate sessions, connect with GCSU alumni whom gave us amazing insight to their careers, and even take photos with Governor Brian Kemp. We are thankful for the chance to represent our Bobcats and experience a day like this! 🏛️💚 taken in Georgia State Capitol by @gcsga

SGA in action — turning ideas into impact.

Senate Resolution 2425.03 began with Former Senator Emily Wright, who recognized the lack of representation for women’s athletics in the GCSU Bookstore. Through research and collaboration, Wright brought a resolution before the Senate advocating for “equal recognition and visibility” for women’s sports.

Today, that vision has become reality, with women’s team merchandise available in the Bookstore.

With Hazing Prevention Week taking place last week, SGA President Samiya wanted to reiterate that every day is an opportunity to prevent hazing and promote a culture of belonging.

“Belonging should never come at the cost of your safety, dignity, or self-respect. Hazing is not a requirement for friendship, leadership, or becoming part of something bigger than yourself. As students, we have the power to build traditions that bring people together, create genuine community, and make people feel valued without tearing anyone down.“ taken in Georgia College & State University by @gcsga

Last Friday, the Student Government Association hosted an Open House, bringing together SGA members, faculty, and administrators for an opportunity to connect and engage.

Following the Open House, SGA held a joint session bringing the Senate, Cabinet, and Judiciary together to strengthen collaboration and camaraderie across all three branches. Members participated in an Emergenetics+ personality and organizational assessment, encouraging them to reflect on their individual strengths and how they can best contribute to the team.

SGA is ready for a collaborative, constructive, and impactful session!

This week in Senate!

The swearing in of Senator Ryall to the 90th Senate.

SR 2627.03 passed and will be sent to the executive branch.

Senator Crozier sharing his perspective on SR 2627.02.

Due to SR 2627.02’s status as a constitutional amendment, it must be passed in the Senate twice with a 2/3rd vote. While it passed unanimously last week, this week’s productive discussion led a 9-8 decision in favor of ratification, thus failing to meet the 2/3rd requirement.
