Few things:
🔵 Tomorrow, I will be 53.
🔵 As far as Birthdays and numbers go, 53 is kinda lacking any oomph.
🔵 Though I do kinda like the idea of signing everything “LIII” for the next year.
🔵 75 days of no cigarettes. Wild. I’m a non-smoker now. Everyone asks how hard it is/was? It was way less hard than having a heart attack.
🔵 That’s my Venmo. Having posted it makes me feel.. ashamed? in a poor, fat, Portugee kid from W Mass kinda way. Haven’t been able to book the tiny revenue stream kinda things that happen in between Shows and Events that greatly help my life make financial sense.
🔵 Insurance is amazing, thanks Entertainment Community Fund!, but 4 Dr or Specialists appts a week with $25-$75 copays stack up.
🔵 And I just counted, I’m on 9 meds now, but have been on 16 diff meds over the last few months. And they don’t let you return the ones you’re not taking anymore.
🔵 Ok, enough poor me pity party, maybe you don’t give a rats ass about my heart attack you just love me and want to give me a birthday present. I’m ok with that.
🔵 Even if you can’t or won’t (fuck you, Greg!) add to the Birthday Venmo, I genuinely appreciate you read this, follow me and put up with my bullshit.
🔵 I’m a LOT. I know that. And like I’ve said to many of you (mostly at work), “as long as you’re on to your own bullshit, we can figure anything out.” I really believe this.
🔵 I love you. I’m glad you’re part of my life (that is by design, no accidents!) and do not take you for granted.
🔵 The first 52 years have been pretty amazing. The last 3 months have been fuckeen WILD.
🔵 The idea of another 30? years used to be horrifying to me. Not so much anymore. Idk why that is? Old age? Heart attack? The excitement of seeing what’s gonna happen?
🔵 But this I know, fasten your seatbelt, it’s gonna be a helluva ride. xxoo

If you wanted to see me (or I suppose murder me?) John and I will be here on Halloween night. We saw her 3? years ago and had a helluva time. If the whole “you almost died last month- twice..” thing hadn’t happened, I would’ve probably skipped it.
But you only live once! (or technically, 3x?)

Nevertheless, come Cuchi Cuchi with us Halloween night.

Anyone who is navigating anything in the hellscape known as the US healthcare system and not filled with a desire to burn it all down every single day is someone I don’t want to know. This is all worse than a heart attack and sure enough a reason to cause another one.

Few things:
🔵 Cardiologist adjusted my meds on Friday afternoon and I can breathe through the night and have slept well the last few nights. (It depresses me that this is an exciting win.)
🔵 2x Dr appts today and a zoom meeting.
🔵 Still have to read a play I have to have a mtg about on Weds.
(there’s always a play that needs to be read.. sigh..)
🔵 Thurs is my birthday. Seems like.. more of an accomplishment this year?
🔵 Anyone got a massage hookup that won’t cost 1 million dollars?
🔵 Anyone got a million dollars?
🔵 I’m wearing a continuous glucose monitor now. Just seems like another thing to take myself to task for/obsess over.
🔵 And by my count (which could be wrong - I’m in Sheauxbiz after all..) I went from seeing no Drs for 20 years to actively seeing at least 14 at this moment.
🔵 Do I win something? And could that something be a massage or a million dollars?
🔵 Broad in the photo should be put on our whatever our money is after our current sitch falls apart.

An update:
It ain’t all puppies and kitties.
🔵 I’m still having a helluva time breathing in the late night/early morning. Hoping med adjustments can alleviate this.
🔵 I waaaaay overdid it this weekend at BAfA. Self inflicted. I had to prove to my own stupid self that I could do it.
🔵 I had 4 Dr appts this week and that seems like the normal for a while.
🔵 I haven’t slept through the night in.. over a month.
🔵 The 3 story walk up to the apartment is tortuous.
🔵 Saw an Endocrinologist in Manhattan for the first time today and the uber was $78. One way. Have decided no more Manhattan Drs if I can help it.
🔵Ready to burn the whole fucking thing down.
🔵 Pls spare me all of your “it’ll get better” hot takes and let me be mad and miserable for a bit. by @gcsnyc

So we made a click over $205k last night at the 10th Annual Broadway Acts for Abortion. I took lots of pics with lots of amazing people and I’ll post lots of them later. I got to meet some artists who have been artistically important to who I am as a person and artist. Big ticket, exciting stuff. Did I overdo it this weekend? Oh, yes. I had no business working 10 hrs Sat & Sun. And I know I wveryone would’ve understood if I bailed. But I HAD to do it. For me, selfishly. To make sure I COULD do it. I will make a post thanking all of the people who work so hard to make it happen. But right now, the only picture I want to share could be labelled #RADICALJOY.
When I moved to NYC 30 years ago, one of the very first nights I went out, I saw @murrayhill perform. He did our show last night. And this is me reacting to him. Idk that I’ve ever seen a more genuine picture of me feeling joy. What a life I get to lead.
