This little lamp of mine is going to be in the @headhi_ny 2026 Lamp Show, May 8-9, at the top of the Standard Hotel 🔅💡🔆I attended the Lamp Show in 2024 and remember leaving feeling so inspired by the creativity on display in which to create light sources in new ways. Manipulating light and shadows is integral to my work, & never more so than while I built and painted this lamp last spring. Safe to say I am extremely excited and grateful to be apart of the very exhibition that inspired me so much a couple years ago 🌞 by @gdz.nyc

I still sometimes refer to myself as a musician first before painter, as I’ve been playing music for 10+ years longer than I’ve been painting for. I feel as though I’ve been given a gift to have the ability to feel such a range of deep emotion from music. The idea of an album taking me on that journey from start to finish, either bringing me into a different world or intentionally keeping me in this one, has been an obsession for as long as I can remember. Being apart of that artistic process of making an album was the ultimate dream as a young drummer finding his voice. It’s a fantasy I still dream about. As 2025 ended I looked back on the paintings I made that year as a defined body of work, with its beginning and end almost perfectly matching those 12 months. It was the first time I thought of my paintings as a collective being, rather than judging each individual one as either bringing me forward or keeping me in place. I probably made each one with a little too much intention of trying to fit every emotion / message / visual into the painting that was right in front of me. But now looking back I see they can live together as a (long) 27 painting album. Now with having finished my 5th painting of this year, I’m feeling a weight off my mind, seeing each one can act as an individual piece of this year’s album. The need to convey everything at once can subside, and the goal of trying to learn something from each painting can grow. I am so excited to share that “Nowhere It Was”, my debut curatorial exhibition with @fieldofplaygallery will be on view from March 25th through April 19th, featuring the work of Terra Keck, Rose Malenfant, and Hannah Rust. Honored to be working with this amazing trio of artists and see their work come together in conversation. Please join us for the opening on Wednesday, March 25th from 6-8pm.
