Your goal might not be aggressive. It might be impossible, and nobody ever showed you how to check.

Here is the math almost nobody runs.

You want $150,000. Your average project is $2,500. That is 60 clients. Each one takes about 25 hours from the first call to the final handoff. That is 1,500 hours of work.

After admin, sales, and your actual life, you have maybe 1,200 billable hours in a year.

You need 1,500. You have 1,200.

That is not a motivation problem. It is arithmetic, and most owners spend twelve months discovering it the hard way.

Four numbers tell you the truth before the year does.

Your trend. This stretch last year against this year, so you know if you are growing or just busy.

Your capacity. How long the work really takes, times the hours you really have.

Your revenue and your profit. Two different numbers, and most people plan for the first one then wonder where the second one went.

And how many clients that actually equals.

Once you have those four you can work backwards. The numbers tell you whether you need more clients, higher prices, or a faster process. You stop guessing.

Monday night, 90 minutes, we do this on your business with your real numbers. $197, fifteen seats, and everyone gets a private call with me first so you know exactly what to bring.

Link in bio.

And if Monday is not your week, run the capacity math tonight anyway. Ten minutes. It will tell you more than any goal setting exercise ever has.

Running a small business means learning how to respond when things don't go according to plan.

Let me tell you what happened this week. 👇🏽
I was reviewing holiday party bookings for my event business, and honestly, I was frustrated.
We were behind where I wanted us to be.
Now, I could've spent the week stressing about it, but I decided to focus on something I could actually control.

Following up with previous clients.

I sent two different emails:
📩 Email #1: Clients who worked with us within the past year.
📩 Email #2: Clients who worked with us within the past three years but hadn't booked again.

These weren't random people. They were clients who already knew our business and had experienced our services.

And within a few days?
6 price quote requests.
3 new bookings.

Now, I'm not sharing this because I think every email campaign is going to produce the same results.
I'm sharing it because there's a bigger lesson here.

Sometimes, as business owners, we're so focused on getting NEW customers that we overlook the relationships we've spent years building.

And those relationships matter.
The work you did last year matters.
The customer experience you delivered matters.
The follow-up you do today matters.

Consistency isn't just about showing up. It's about continuing to plant seeds and nurturing the relationships you've already built.

So here's something to think about this week:
When was the last time you reached out to a previous client just to reconnect or share something valuable?

Your next opportunity might already be in your client list.

Follow @greeneyedambition for practical conversations about business systems, strategy, and growth.

Getting the client is only HALF the work! 👀

I recently attended @FreshBooks Small Talk Dallas and connected with six amazing entrepreneurs. But the event also reminded me of something I talk about all the time...

You need systems to manage the business you're working so hard to grow.

Because after you land the client, you still need to:

💰 Send professional invoices and get paid
📊 Track your business expenses
💻 Stay organized without spending all your time on admin

If you're a freelancer or service-based business owner looking for a simpler way to manage invoicing and expenses, you can try FreshBooks FREE for 30 days.

📍 DALLAS–FORT WORTH BUSINESS OWNERS: YOUR NOVEMBER NETWORKING CALENDAR IS HERE!

If you've been saying you want to grow your business, expand your network, or meet more potential clients, November has some great opportunities to do exactly that.

I've rounded up 10 business events happening around DFW in November 2026.

Here are a few to put on your radar:
📅 Nov 3 – Dallas Regional Chamber Member Happy Hour
📅 Nov 4 – DFW Small Business Expo
📅 Nov 5 – Frisco Chamber Works Networking
📅 Nov 10 – Your Level-Up Pitch Competition
📅 Nov 16 – WEDallas Pitch Night
Plus several other opportunities around Dallas, Frisco, Addison, and Plano!

Here's my advice as a business consultant:
Stop networking just to collect business cards.
Be intentional about WHO you want to meet and WHY.

Before attending an event, ask yourself:
✔️ Could my ideal clients be there?
✔️ Are there potential referral partners?
✔️ Will I learn something that helps my business grow?
✔️ How will I follow up with the people I meet?

Because networking without follow-up is a missed opportunity.

📌 SAVE this post for your November planning.
📤 SHARE it with another DFW business owner who needs to get out and network.
💬 COMMENT DALLAS if you want me to keep sharing local business resources and networking opportunities.

If you're looking for more grants, workshops, mentorship programs, and other resources in your community, check out my Local Business Resource Playbook via the link in my bio.

15 weeks left in the year. Most of us will spend all of them finishing what's already on the plate.
Then January hits, the calendar is thin, and it feels like starting over. That's not bad luck. That's a planning gap.

Three things to focus on before December:
1. Build your January pipeline now. Nobody's booking anything in late December. If your calendar is empty on January 6th, that's October's fault. Ask the client who's wrapping up what's next. Send the proposal before Thanksgiving.
2. Write down what you did this year while you still remember it. Every process you ran out of your head this year is one you'll rebuild from scratch next year, or one you could hand off. You know the steps right now. In March, you won't.
3. Set your goals off your real numbers, not a feeling. You don't know your profit. You don't know what a client actually costs you in hours. You don't know if this quarter is up or down from last year. You can't hit a goal you made up.

A full calendar is not a healthy business.

That third one is what my Group Planning Session is built for. Monday, September 28 at 2 PM ET, 90 minutes, 15 seats. You leave with a weekly and monthly KPI framework built from your own numbers. Links are in my bio.

Which of the three have you been avoiding? Tell me below.

The couples he served when he started are now getting married. One wedding was never one client. How many of your bookings came from someone you already worked with?

Every tool you pay for should be doing one of four jobs.

Getting the client. Getting paid. Doing the work. Keeping the client.

When a platform tells you it is all in one, this is what they mean. They are talking about these four quadrants, and some platforms do them far better than others.

It does not have to live in one platform. It does have to be covered.

Most people are missing a fifth job entirely. The full conversation is on the channel. by @gea_system_studios

Three HoneyBook updates, and what each one actually changes in your day. The business phone and SMS add-on launched today, texts get around an 80 percent reply rate versus about 10 for email.

The new side layout is only worth anything if you reorder it. And floor plan templates are still rolling out by plan, so if you don't see it, that's not you.
