Take that dad!!!! (This is a joke, please reference the second photo for our favorite FarOut comment. Both parents have been extremely supportive)

This trail was HARD. The climbs were straight up and straight down (switchbacks would go against the nature of the AT). The views were very few and far between. The trail itself was so rocky and/or root-y that I kinda forgot how to walk like a normal person. The record setting heat. The humidity. Putting on wet clothes day after day. Eating the same shit everyday. The bug bites, sweat rashes, sweat pimples. I spent a lot of time asking myself what I was doing. Started to wonder if I was yet again forcing my body to do what I wanted it to. But DESPITE ALL THAT, I did it!!!! I walked 2200 miles!!! And while I would never do this trail specifically again, I’d give just about anything to be back in the woods with my friends. The way this trail community came together astounded me. I felt like a celeb in every hiker town, random ppl offering us rides or foods or a place to come sleep and shower, cooking food for us at road passes. And to the hikers themselves- each and every one of you have impacted me to my core. I’m hiker trash in my bones now. What a crazy experience to know your friends social security numbers but not their real name. I’m pretty scared of this upcoming adjustment back to the real world- thought I’d have it all figured out by now but I’m maybe more confused than ever???? Stay tuned I guess. Kinda can’t believe this thing is almost over (my bad to anyone who saw my joke story about being done). The NH Whites and southern Maine really slow you down, which I think is the point. Soaking up these last few weeks on trail because I know it’s ending soon and I don’t want it to!! Not to get ahead of myself but Im starting to think I might actually finish the whole freakin AT???? by @gee.race

Sitting in a coffee shop rn crying over the kindness of this hiker community and all of my sweet friends who have offered to help me after my pack with my gear was stolen. What a silly little journey to be embarking on and I feel so crazy privileged in so many ways- having the type of lifestyle that I can take some time off to walk 2200 miles (!!), having a support system at home to watch my dogs, having a body that can walk this far up and down this many mountains, witnessing the goodness in humanity in every small town we’ve come across whether it’s a hitch into town or a dry place to sleep or even encouragement to keep doin what we’re doing. I’ve had so many people reach out about following this journey and just know that I’m so stupid grateful for each and every one of you beautiful people 😭🥹 I’ve had so many offers for loaner gear and donations alike and I’m making it to katahdin one way or another yall!!!! And to my bingus fam, I love yall so much for making this experience what it’s been. Im a changed gal. by @gee.race

Down to only triple diggies left for the AT. Somewhere along the 500+ miles of Virginia we really shifted into the smiles over miles mindset which has been a real joy. Last one to Katahdin wins yannoooo??? The monotony sped some people up but we found ourselves enjoying side quests a bit more- hike ur own hike they say! When I started the hike I thought hitchhiking would be a rarity but now we’re hitching into every town we cross. We’ve hit Hershey park, yuengling brewery tour, Toy Story in theaters, even a library in Palmerton PA where we played games all day and ate at a diner by morning/thai food by night restaurant. The side quests have broken up the monotony of the green tunnel and the rocks and the heat and I’m just so so thankful for this community of hiker trash 😻 by @gee.race

Hitting 1/3rd of the way done with the trail soon and feeling pretty darn lucky that my body has allowed me to get this far. Definitely not without its aches and pains but no real surprise there. Trail legs are cookin now on some serious business but the heat is our new beast. Especially with lack of rain this year and all our water sources drying up!!! I’ve fallen into step with a trail fam that has elevated the experience that much more. I’m off trail to hang with friends and fam for a few days but dreaming of that green tunnel (but not really right now in the 90 degree heat)!! taken in Appalachian Trail by @gee.race

300+ miles into the AT and I’m having a great time!! I also figure I should post something because my new trail friends are all prob like who’s this bish with hair that just followed me. The world is getting greener out here and my heart is getting bigger. I’m eating a lot of tuna and stretching under a lot of good trees. I also just got into the leaving camp at dark to be walking during the sunrise. Got my trail name (Outlaw) because I got sun poisoning and had to cover my face for a while. And lastly, I am a rigid follower of hiker midnight (8:30pm bedtime) and sometimes will even go to bed at like hiker 10pm (7pm normal ppl time). by @gee.race

Hola mis amigos! Slowly heading home this weekend from Costa Rica with 100 hours of Spanish under my belt, very terrible surfing skills, lots of favorite trees, lots of new animal and human frands, one broken toe, a lovely pair of clown sandals because I am incapable of paying attention to details, a tan that will soon be covered by a million layers of clothing never to be seen again and a heart so full it could burst 💥 taken in Costa Rica by @gee.race

2023 kinda wrecked me. I’m not really a resolutions gal but I am definitely an “intentional reflecting based on something as silly as a made up timeline” gal. This year was wild. It was truly beautiful and TRULY terrible. I didn’t wanna be around anymore for a lot of it. I feel pretty lucky that I made it another year. Sometimes I think life sucks but then I remember I live at the same time and on the same planet and in the same universe as whales. And javelinas. And you think about how cool trees are. And that maybe I haven’t seen the best sunset yet. Or eaten the best bowl of ramen. Or gotten enough doggie snuggles. That feels like enough to wanna stick around for sometimes. In one week I will be in Costa Rica learning to surf 🏄 and speak Spanish 🗣️ and tryna figure out how the hell to be the best version of myself. So here’s to learning to be selfish without being destructive, leaning on friends and being ur own home. taken in 2024 by @gee.race

“These are um, chair pants, or chants. Sort of the straightness is the difficulty of the lack of a bend. The only part that is slightly inconvenient about these is interacting with other chairs when you’re wearing them.
