Today, on World Suicide Prevention Day, I want to share a part of my journey in the hope it might encourage someone else. This time last year, I was in hospital after reaching one of the darkest points in my life. I had been struggling with my mental health since I was 15, but last year it became unbearable, I couldn’t manage even the smallest daily tasks like showering, going to work or uni, or even eating, which caused me to lose a lot of weight. At that time, I truly couldn’t see a way forward.But standing here today, I can say with a full heart that things do get better. Over the past year, I’ve strengthened my faith, surrounded myself with the right people, let go of the wrong ones, and most importantly, learned to put myself first. I’ve discovered who I truly am and found a peace and happiness I never thought I would feel again.If you’re struggling, please know that you are not weak and you are never alone. Reach out, find support, and hold on because even when it feels impossible, brighter days will come. I am living proof of that.
