So @gregory_thehuman and I are Medieval NPCs… here to defend the realm despite mild drizzle. #HappyHalloween friends! 🎃 by @geekboyeric
It’s hard to measure how much losing the great Sir Patrick Stewart has made me sad today. #startrekthenextgeneration premiered right after I turned 13, and ended right before I turned 20. So I literally spent my formative teen years with Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard commanding the Enterprise on my TV every week for 7 years. Then for another 8 years in movies. Picard continues to define everything I would ever want to be as a human being; intellectual, curious, diplomatic, measured, and always fighting for a just cause. Even when some corrupt admiral gives orders he knew were wrong and it could cost his career, Picard showed you have to always make the moral choice regardless. Star Trek 100% helped shape my own personal politics and worldview in a significant way, without a doubt. Think I’m too much of a bleeding heart liberal? Definitely blame Star Trek. The fact that he later brought to life yet another lifelong favorite thing of mine, #XMen, was the cherry on top. In his personal life, his long friendship with Ian McKellen showed how a straight man can be completely unbothered and so comfortable with himself as to be best friends and affectionate with an out gay man to a homophobic and judgmental world. The world has lost a colossal talent and a great human being. For the last 3+ decades, old eps of #tng have been my security blanket on many a night, something to wind down to and feel comforted by, even if I’ve seen them a million times. (And trust me, I have). And that will still be the case. It’ll just hurt a little more knowing that my Captain is gone. #rippatrickstewart by @geekboyeric
Some #Halloween home displays in #LongBeach I went to visit the other night with @noahisanerd…it’s a nice aspect of Instagram that it lets us know where so many local haunts are 🎃 by @geekboyeric
Had a fun day doing spooky season activities with my wonderful hubbie @gregory_thehuman and my friend @noahisanerd… we started by going to “Zombie Bob’s Big Boy” in Downey, then headed to the @academymuseum for their new Horror Show exhibit, which is true horror nerd heaven. Soooo many cool props and costumes…if you love horror movies and are in LA , you really gotta go. Then, we capped off the night at @cinespia for a screening of #Carrie. Janelle Monáe hosted in full Carrie White regalia. “Go to your closet and pray!” 🎃 by @geekboyeric
Ok… I did the thing all of comic book Instagram is doing. #DC #Marvel #TeenTitans #XMen #WonderWoman by @geekboyeric
Had a fun time with my Boo @gregory_thehuman for the first night of @knottsscaryfarm 2026. We got to see every maze in pretty fast time, and I looooved the 1930s themed “Inked” haunted house. Thank god the heat wave is over. Let spooky season commence! by @geekboyeric
Had a blast at the first night of #universalhalloweenhorrornights in Hollywood with my dear friend (and fellow Gen X horror nerd) @logancrow. Fave haunted houses had to be #Sinners, #Ozzy, and of course, the long-awaited #Hellraiser house. Although I know Logan loves him some Art the Clown. Full review of each maze coming soon to @nerdist by @geekboyeric
Today I was truly honored to be able to preview the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art before it’s open to the public. And to be in the presence of the man who shaped my childhood, George Lucas himself, who gave a speech along with his wife and partner in this venture, Mellody Hobson… so damn cool. This museum has SO much… yes, a ton of #StarWars art & props, but also a huge collection of Norman Rockwell paintings, as well as Andrew Wyeth, comic book art, manga art, murals, even some Banksy. And there’s a library as well… LA is so lucky to have this museum. And I think Carrie Fisher would love that she’s immortalized as a bronze statue of Princess Leia choking out Jabba the Hutt in the museum grounds. These pics are just the tip of the iceberg. More to come. by @geekboyeric
My photo dump of #D23 2026 pics….Got to be present as our new #XMen were announced, and most importantly, for the announcement of a new #Tomorrowland at #Disneyland. But the best part was getting to do this all with one @house_walsh, since our living on opposite coasts means we don’t really get to hang out. Even if he is usually the first human I communicate with every day. See you in 2 years, Honda Center! ❤️ by @geekboyeric
And that’s a wrap on Comic-Con 2026 from me and @gregory_thehuman. Covered 6 panels for work (actually 7, because one @rotem_rusak got me into #TheVampirestat) went to two others for fun, (gay ones ofc) shopped a bit, and interviewed genuine #StarTrek living legends. But now, must 😴💤 Until next year #SDCC by @geekboyeric
#SDCC photo duo day 1 & 2… lots of fun swag I want and can’t afford. It sucks being not rich at Comic Con by @geekboyeric
One of the first things my boo @gregory_thehuman bonded over was our mutual love of #trixieandkatya, so I’m glad we got to see them do a live version of the #baldandbeautiful podcast tonight at the Wiltern. I love these two unhinged bald bitches so so much. by @geekboyeric
