Please meet our Legal Expert, Carla Olympio of Agency Seven Seven who specialises in media law and who will be walking us through the ins and outs of Intellectual Property and Copyright .

The class will be held on the 26th of March at 3:00pm, GEL - Elle Lokko

Carla Olympio, Founder and Managing Partner of Agency Seven Seven, is a corporate lawyer and communications specialist. Educated in Ghana and the United Kingdom, she acquired broad experience in law and across the varied industries of media, mining and oil and gas before setting up the Agency.

"Unfortunately, for a long time, the perception many had of the creative industries here in Ghana was that people who went in to them were the ones who could not cut it as scientists, engineers, doctors and lawyers. This perception is changing slowly, along with the growth of the worldwide popularity of music from African stars and film industries like Nollywood, but I believe, not fast enough. The talent and potential of our creatives is of as much importance to the building of our nations as those of other professionals." by @gel.accra

At GEL we believe education is the foundation on which to build any kind of "industry".

We've been in the art space for many years assisting and encouraging countless creatives taking their first steps in their chosen field of expression. We have also seen many grow and gain recognition for the wonders they have poured out of themselves and are proud to have been a part of these journeys.

In keeping up with our efforts at building the creative community, we have decided to create specialised masterclass sessions dedicated exclusively at empowering and equipping this our community with the tools required to operate successfully both on the local and global markets of their chosen profession.

Keep an eye out for more details on what is coming and remember, change comes through participation.

who is @brightackwerh ?

"Bright is an internationally known, Ghanian born, artist. One we’ve been following for many years now. If you haven’t heard of him yet, then we’re glad to welcome you to the Bright club! He’s known for using paint, digital media, illustration and street art to create thought provoking satirical statements.
Some may describe his art as controversial, as pushing socio political and religious boundaries or describe it as eye opening and extremely amusing. One thing we can all agree on, is that his art has definitely created a flurry of conversation and dialogue across west Africa.
He was the 2016 recipient of Ghana’s Kuenyehia Prize for Ghanaian Contemporary art and was also named one of the top artists in 2017 Barclays L’atelier. His art has been exhibited in a number of galleries, from Gallery 1957 in Ghana, to Raw Spot Gallery in South Africa."

before anything becomes official, experimentation is the way to go.

exactly one year ago today we were busily finding out if a gallery space could even be carved out of this place.

testing waters with artist Bright Ackwerh, we decided to make a bold move by painting the town RED! (well, just our little corner of it hehe)

our very first exhibition was indeed an exclusively passionate affair.
