What a whirlwind the last 24 hours have been.
Yesterday we received the heartbreaking news that our third IUI had been cancelled. We started our journey back in November last year with our initial consultation, blood tests and scans, and decided once we had a clear idea of our options as a same sex couple we would start treatment in July. After three months of scans, appointments, medication, acupuncture, no caffeine or alcohol, and so much waiting it felt like another door had just closed.
On the way home, we had the conversation we’d both been terrified of having:
What do we do now?
The reality is, it’s time for us to attempt IVF.
Being a same-sex couple already means that having a baby isn’t as simple as deciding you’re ready and trying naturally. There are procedures, appointments, costs and so much uncertainty, and when the route you’ve chosen fails you, after you’ve already invested so much emotionally, physically and financially, it’s really difficult to pick yourself back up and try again.
But then, in the middle of all of this, you showed up for us.
We are now over 75% of the way towards our goal, and we are completely blown away. Not just by the donations, but by the messages, shares, love and sheer number of people who have chosen to stand behind us.
It’s hard to explain what that means when this journey can sometimes feel incredibly lonely. Every donation is getting us closer to becoming parents, and every message reminds us that we aren’t doing this alone.

We’ve been sharing our journey over on @TheIUIWives on TikTok, because these last three months have made us realise just how little support there is out there for same-sex couples going through fertility treatment. We want to share the reality of it all, so that maybe someone else feels a little less alone.

So here’s a little glimpse of the last three months…
A lot of clinic waiting rooms. A lot of scans. A lot of long car journeys putting the world to rights with my best friend. 
We are so close to reaching our goal, and starting our IVF journey, and it’s all thanks to all of you 🤍
