Several Latin American fashion brands popped up at European fashion weeks in London, Milan and Paris. With debuts, returns and off-schedule shows, can these names make a mark on some of fashion’s most crowded schedules? Backstage at @anciela_london during @londonfashionweek, we caught up with Jennifer to talk through her vision for the season. We also spoke with stylist @stephaniayepes about how she mixed colour, texture and unexpected combinations to bring that vision to life on the runway. ANCIELA presented its SS27 collection during London Fashion Week on 17 September, bringing together fashion, material innovation, installation and live performance. Founded in London in 2019 by Colombian-Chilean designer Jennifer Droguett Espinosa, ANCIELA draws on South American heritage, migration and childhood memories. SS27 looks into the relationship between mother and daughter, and the knowledge, memory and traditions passed between generations. This is reflected in the collection through adaptive tailoring, with adjustable panels, detachable sleeves and layers that wrap, tie and knot around the body. The collection follows a thread of past, present and future, considering what we can learn from the past, how we respond to the challenges of the present and what we need to create a more resilient future. These ideas are reflected in the brand’s adaptive approach to tailoring. Adjustable panels and detachable sleeves allow pieces to be changed, while layers interconnect, tie and knot around the body, adapting to movement and shape. #LFW #Fashion #latam by @gen33mag
@aguabyaguabendita makes its @mbfwmadrid debut with sights set on European expansion The Colombian label presented its Spring Summer 2027 collection on Tuesday at Madrid’s Galería de Cristal del Palacio de Cibeles. The participation builds on an established international retail presence, with stockists including Net-a-Porter, Mytheresa, Harrods, Browns, Harvey Nichols and Bergdorf Goodman. Known for botanical prints and hand embroidery rooted in local traditions and craftsmanship, Agua by Agua Bendita was launched in 2018 as the ready-to-wear label of swimwear brand Agua Bendita, founded by Catalina Álvarez and Mariana Hinestroza in 2003. The collection included a footwear collaboration with Alexandre Birman: a 12-piece capsule. The presentation also featured hats by Maison Ola and a collaboration with PYRATEX®. The show additionally featured a special musical performance by Colombian star Aria Vega. The Medellín-based label joins a growing roster of Latin American talent presenting in Madrid. Colombian designers Johanna Ortiz and Silvia Tcherassi showed their collections earlier this year and last year, respectively, while Mexican designer Lorena Saravia presented her namesake label in 2023. by @gen33mag
¡Hola! In this issue of GEN33 I caught up with Venezuelan artist Victoria Ruiz, who walked me through the thinking behind her recent performance and exhibition at the Sarabande Foundation in London. I also met up with Brazilian jewellery designer and artist Helena Palmeira at Collect, the contemporary craft fair at Somerset House. There’s also a roundup of some tidbits from across the web: Buenos Aires Fashion Week, the women who redefined art in Venezuela, Brazil’s Oscar nominee Wagner Moura, architect Smiljan Radić Clarke, and more. ¡Vamos! #Venezuela #Brasil #ModaLatina #ArteLartino #BAFWeek by @gen33mag
🇻🇪 I caught up with Venezuelan artist @vic.toriaruiz, who spoke to me about what went on behind the scenes at her recent performance and exhibition at the Sarabande Foundation in London. Born in Caracas, Ruiz is a multidisciplinary artist working across image, costume and performance, currently completing a residency at Sarabande. For the exhibition, Ruiz revisited an earlier project, Para Tu Altar. It emerged during a moment of personal reflection on faith. “it’s meant to be a tribute to the saints and it’s offering a perspective of an interconnected world through the divine forces of nature,” she explains. Very special thanks to @helenacebrian for the editing ✨ Read more in the latest issue of @GEN33 and stay tuned for more content about Victoria’s work. 🌴🌴🌴 #PerformanceArt #LatinAmericanArt #VenezuelanArtist #ArtInLondon #ArtistsOfInstagram by @gen33mag

Hello and welcome to @gen33mag tracking shifts in the business and culture of Latin America’s creative industries. I’m very excited to bring you today’s issue, featuring my conversation with Ciro Neto, CEO of @iguatemi one of Brazil’s leading premium retail and lifestyle companies. We discussed how Brazil’s luxury consumer is evolving, why the local market has proved unusually resilient even as global luxury demand cools, and how experience-led retail has long underpinned high-end spending in the country. This week’s issue is dedicated to music, where I’m highlighting a few things that stood out to me. Recent world events have been quite consuming, so I did not want to miss delivering something you might enjoy reading, or that might help take your mind off the current state of affairs, even briefly. Bad Bunny is arguably the single most influential Latin American artist of the moment, signalling a broader rebalancing of cultural power, especially amid heightened political tension and ongoing ICE deportations. Meanwhile, Argentinians Ca7riel and Paco Amoroso have had a true breakout year, rising at such a relentless pace that they had to take a much-needed break and put their tour and album release on hold. The pair are also a testament to the fact that music from the continent is not limited to reggaeton and trap. Women are no longer on the periphery, but front and centre, having become forces as powerful as their European and US counterparts. Regional Mexican music has moved decisively into the mainstream. Plus a few thoughts on #Venezuela ‘s status quo. #LatinAmerica #MusicaLatina #latinmusic #badbunny by @gen33mag
