Happy Indigenous Peoples Day! 🪶

I’m proud to be Indigenous and honored to be an Indigenous mother. It is a privilege to hold and raise this next generation fire keeper. A reminder to all people/brands/industries that think women shrivel up and retreat into a cave during motherhood. We are alive and THRIVING. Training for 50ks, mountain biking hard trails, summiting mountains… what like it’s harder than labor?! Being a mother is being the balance of extremely hardcore while also incredibly soft. It’s a sport in itself and I’m lucky to be one of many who gets to do it ❤️So inspired by all the moms around me not only being incredible athletes but all while loving and caring for their humans with their entire being. We are doing the most 👏🏽 by @gen_n_juus

Life with an 8mo Scorpio son and an Aquarius mom. Need I say more?

Summer updates:
•Kenji loves water no matter the temp 🥶
• I broke my hand on a trail run of all things lol ouchy
• But broken bones means slowing down and still getting outside (Kenji likes this pace better anyways)
• Little man crawls, eats, stands and LAUGHS A LOT 🥹
• Did a couple shoots (found out I was on a billboard?!)

My therapist introduced a new term to me this week. Matrescence- the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual process of becoming a mother. Often described as a “seismic shift” or a developmental passage similar to adolescence. A reconstruction of identity. A liminal space of who I once was and who I’m becoming. It’s fucking hard. I’m fighting my future, mourning my past, but also celebrating and looking forward to so much. I’m doing too much. I’m working like the old me but my body can’t keep up and my spirit is often left at home thinking of all the moments I’m missing with my baby. For every opportunity there’s a missed moment with my child, it’s a give and take. I’m doing cool work, I’m learning my culture and visiting homelands, Im moving my body to achieve some big goals in running, I’m building my dream business… but I’m also pumping in airport bathrooms, staring at photos of my baby from hotels, and dealing with the guilt of not being with my child for every precious moment 🥺I’ve found that at least having a word to describe this psychological and physical whiplash is comforting in a way. Navigating my new identity with trial and lots of error. I’m so thankful for the opportunities and grateful for a partner that supports me as I figure out Gene 2.0. It’s a bumpy ride but I know the outcome will be worth the falls. ❤️ Just some mom realness mixed with baby cuteness for your feed. by @gen_n_juus

To come home to Anishinaabe aki. To a place where the land remembers you and welcomes you.

A place where the soundtrack is the flapping of the wings of jijak (crane), the dripping of the zisbakwtabo (maple sap), of laughter from aunties in a community center.

A place that tastes and smells earthy like mnoomin (wild rice).

A place where our language is vast and vibrant like the constellations.

A place where we sing to the nibi (🌊) and she sings back.

A place where we see and feel constant reminders of our presence. Whispered through the river what was once a roar of rapids.

A place where knowledge is held onto and cradled like a pouch of sema (tobacco) with the intention of gifting with an open hand and heart.

Kenji Mko (Bear) Fritz born 11/12/25. One month of loving, learning, and leaning into parenthood. He first came to me in a dream as a bear cub, I ran from him because I was scared until he jumped on my lap and just wanted to be loved. This boy is my biggest lesson. Learning to trust my body and intuition, trust him, learning to let go of expectations and comparison. One month and I never knew I could love so big. 🥹❤️ by @gen_n_juus
