We wanted to highlight Sika Deer, a short film that distinguishes itself through its uncompromising artistic vision at the intersection of narrative cinema and experimental, AI-driven visual language. Directed by Amir Yang, the film immerses the viewer in a deceptively tranquil forest, where a ritualized hunt becomes a descent into psychological and metaphysical horror. What begins as an act of domination over nature gradually fractures into something far more unsettling. In 2026, Oxygène—the groundbreaking album that launched Jarre’s international career—will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Originally released in 1976, the album redefined the vocabulary of electronic music and remains a benchmark for innovation in sound design, synthesis, and experimental production. This milestone resonates strongly with WAiFF’s commitment to pioneering new creative paradigms. Jarre’s influence extends far beyond the studio. In 1981, he became the first Western artist to perform in the People’s Republic of China . He arrived in Beijing with a 70-person team and 15 tons of equipment. Between Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, his team and local technicians established a successful collaboration—demonstrating his ability to bridge cultures through technology, performance, and artistic vision. Throughout five decades of boundary-pushing work—from record-breaking outdoor performances to early adoption of immersive audio, virtual environments, and emerging creative technologies—Jean-Michel Jarre has consistently shaped the future of digital culture.
