After the snow storm shutdown Amtrak’s Ethan Allen, two short trips to NYC became one long one. But jazz never stops in The City. Here’s the amazing Mr. Johnny O’Neal, the Johnny O’Neal Trio, from Friday night at Mezzrow’s. What a show! Music and singing that toasted the room to a fiery glow. WOW! It was a volcanic evening of funky jazz at @thedjangonyc last night. These cats exploded! My first time at Django, a truly epic experience. Bill Charlap is one of the greatest jazz pianists who’s ever lived. I have met him and talked with him a couple of times. He’s a giant! His solo performance at @smokejazzclub last month was one of the most moving performances I’ve ever seen. by @genefoxjr

Makoto Ozone and Yasushi Nakamura soared last night at Mezzrow in Greenwich Village! A night for the ages, both the 6pm show and the 7:30pm show were absolute gems. Perhaps the highlight of an evening filled with highlights was Ozone’s very personal story behind Asian Dream, a slow delicate blues-infused ode to his journey of rediscovery.
