The art is hung. Sound check’s complete. Visuals are mapped out. We are ready for you all. See you Saturday night 7-11pm.

A very powerful collection from late artist Everett Leo Swinson that will only be amplified by the sights of @general_jedd_visuals and sounds of @killdevildisco and @doddie. You won’t want to miss this.

Hope you’ll join us this Saturday December 13th! Cocktail attire encouraged.

@a.c.e.us presents a collection of recently rediscovered art, rolled up and stored in a box in a closet for 30 years. 23 Original works all bright and vivid oil pastels on paper by late Norfolk Artist Everett Leo Swinson. Swinson was diagnosed with HIV in the early 90s, these works from that time, reflecting his internal struggle showing profound psychological challenges like shame, guilt, fear, and anger, as well as the identity disruption of living with a chronic illness, affecting mental health often compounded by societal discrimination.

Cash bar, with proceeds benefiting @thecropfoundation.
A special night of sounds provided by @killdevildisco

On December 13, 2025, @thecropfoundation and @a.c.e.us welcome you to a classy affair shaped by sound and light — an evening that moves with intention and quiet elegance. An auditory and visual journey like you’ve never experienced. The night features a recently rediscovered vintage art collection by Everett Swinson of Norfolk, VA (1956–1998) from @coastalmod, alongside mood-setting, mind-expanding visuals from @general_jedd_visuals and sound delivered through vintage 🔊 by @killdevildisco

SOFT SHADOWS, WARM TONES AND MUSIC THAT SETTLES INTO THE ROOM WITH EASE. THE ART DRAWS YOU IN, THE ATMOSPHERE UNFOLDS NATURALLY. THIS IS A PLACE TO BE PRESENT — TO LOOK, TO LISTEN, AND TO LET THE MOMENT STAND ON ITS OWN.

About the art collection:
Everett Swinson (1956–1998): On display are 23 recently rediscovered oil pastel drawings on paper, the works he was known for. Swinson was a performance artist and exhibitor in this region from the late 1970s until his passing in 1998. His art consistently carried messages about social issues—homelessness, hunger, and the overlooked struggles woven into daily life.

This collection was found in a box, tucked away in a closet for the last 30 years. These works come from a period after Swinson was diagnosed HIV-positive, when his art became more intimate and urgent, expressing private fear and the tension between holding on and letting go. He emphasized that his work was about “someone dealing with a serious illness. There are many serious illnesses; AIDS is just one of them.’’

In a world still wrestling with conflict, uncertainty, and care for one another, these pieces feel just as relevant now as they did three decades ago. taken in Coastal Mod by @general.jedd.visuals
