Big news: our 5-axis desktop systems now ship with Aibuild’s automation software. Same industrial-grade multi-axis slicer, compact footprint - bringing advanced manufacturing to the desktop. ⚙️

This collaboration demonstrates what we’ve believed in from the beginning: performance should scale. From factory floors to studio benches, we’re making high-end multi-axis capability accessible and partnering with the best in class to make it happen.

No AI, no renderings, just some old school studio photography.

We are super excited to share the latest Generative Machine build in the next few weeks. Here are some HD shots we took of the new parts a few weeks ago.

The team at @ai_build never fails to impress! Check out this Timelapse of smooth continuous spiralling deposition in a 5 axis toolpath. And the best part? These parts are support-free and incredibly strong! #5axis #3dprinting #robotics #ai @3d_natives #generationone #generativedesign #fusion360 taken in Bristol, United Kingdom by @generative_machine

We are super pleased to be through as a finalist at @thetctgroup awards in Boston this year! You could say we’ve got some tough competition 😅

Our mission is incredibly simple, we want to put advanced 5-axis printing tech on your desktop and push the technology forward.

Thank you to our partners @ai_build @autodesk Duet3D and Hexaxes for supporting our work.

See you in Boston! taken in Bristol, United Kingdom by @generative_machine

How will additive manufacturing in 2026 play out?

Who knows... the only certainty (at least in the UK) is more taxes! But for insights on the Material Extrusion market there are some great bits of commentary from a varied range of industry voices, including some thoughts from us and a nod to the big data work we’re transitioning more towards in this 3DPrint.com 2026 predictions article.

Thanks to @bambulab_official, Joris Peels for the feature, and to collaborators on the article Pawel Slusarczyk, Harald Schmid, Brent Wright, Kenneth Kempinski, David Dietrich, Andrew Allshorn (AMUG 🦕) Aibuild Duet3D

Our website is now live. Access your account and find products and knowledge base support pages to get you up to speed with multi-axis 3D printing.

Over time we will be adding functionality to user accounts, including machine data with sensor based maintenance recommendations, and in depth support articles. For security, accounts can be optionally secured with 2FA.

Order progress can be tracked through the accounts page and we aim to ship first machines end of Q1 2026. If you’re interested in our machines or services, please read the founders notice on the pre-order page before continuing to account creation.

4th of November 2023, the day we shipped our first 5-axis open-source Gen5X 3D printer parts kit to researchers at the University of Edinburgh.

This marked a significant turning point in our journey, going from a project that kept me sufficiently distracted from writing my doctoral thesis at the time, to developing a well featured and fully certified product that can enable users to engage with multi-axis technology at consumer level.

Needless to say, we are very excited by not only what we’ve been building, but also our plans for new machines, developing our real-time print data analytics tools, and also working with the many great people that we’ve met along the way!

We partnered with @ai_build to put the advanced kind of slicing you find in robotics onto desktop platforms! The video shows a sped-up run through of the slicing process for the Stanford bunny we recently exhibited at #formnext

Using the AiBuild slicer we have full control over every polyline. Once the geometry is sliced, you can edit pretty much any aspect of the output toolpath, and create custom workflows to print exactly how you want with multi-axis technology.

Our machines ship with a license to the AiBuild slicer - we are now accepting sign ups for pre-ordering through the website.

We bootstrapped our way to Formnext - and what a week it was!

As a two-man, self-funded team, exhibiting in front of 38,000 visitors in Frankfurt wasn’t exactly on the cards for us... but with support from the brilliant team at @Aibuild, we brought our mission of multi-axis desktop 3D printing to the industry’s biggest stage.

On the stand we unveiled the latest iteration of our 5-axis printer, showcasing its expanded capabilities, new engineering, and a first look at the real-time machine-data dashboards and QA print-reporting tools we’ve been building behind the scenes. (More on that soon 👀)

Pre-orders are now officially open for early adopters ready to bring 5-axis capability into their workflow.

Huge thank you again to @ai_build for believing in what we’re creating.

Onwards. 🚀

Last year we had the privilege of contributing to an SAE EDGE Series report on generative design in aerospace and automotive, alongside incredible minds from nTop, NASA, Autodesk and more.

Walking around #formnext this year, it’s amazing to see how far computational design has come and how fast the technologies enabling these workflows are evolving.

We’re getting closer to truly data-driven machines, and we’re excited to share some of our latest work soon, a major leap forward in local machine data capture and real-time analytics for desktop printing.

Stay tuned. 🚀✨

We’ve printed our fair share of multi-axis pipes over the years - they’re pretty cool. Here’s some geodesic 5-axis slicing on the Stanford Bunny test standard.

The @ai_build slicer gives us full control over every part of the toolpath: layer sequencing, tool rotations, overhang extrusion, speed optimisation, curvature analysis, index sorting, polyline filtering… the list goes on. Combined with our desktop 5-axis hardware (new extruder incoming!), we’re putting true multi-axis capability on the desktop market.

We’ll be on the Aibuild stand at #formnext, 18–21 November. Come and watch the machines running live and fire away any questions!

📍 Hall 12.1 | Stand B79

Here’s a very last-minute full geodesic print timelapse before we pack up and head to Frankfurt. We’ll have two systems on the stand, printing a mix of multi-axis parts throughout the show.
