Welcome all Creatures, great and small, into your home gardens and outside areas!

Welcoming wildlife into your home garden creates a balanced, low-maintenance, and resilient ecosystem that provides numerous practical, environmental, and personal benefits.

Ecological and Practical Advantages:
Natural Pest Control: Attracting beneficial insects like ladybugs, lacewings, and predatory wasps, as well as birds, bats, frogs, and snakes, creates a natural defense system against common garden pests like aphids, slugs, and mosquitoes.

This reduces or eliminates the need for harmful chemical pesticides.

Enhanced Pollination: Many of the fruits, vegetables, and flowers in your garden and the broader local environment depend on pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Encouraging these visitors with native, nectar-rich plants ensures successful reproduction and higher yields for your crops.
Improved Soil Health: Animals such as earthworms and other decomposers aerate the soil and break down organic matter (like dead leaves), which converts into nutrient-rich compost, improving soil fertility, structure, and water retention. by @genesisnatives

Most Bumblebee Queens nest just below the ground or under piles of brush in Winter. Leave The Leaves. Ban the Leaf Blower. In the Spring, avoid raking, tilling and mowing until the Queens emerge from their winter Nests in May. by @genesisnatives

To help a woolly bear caterpillar, gently guide it to the side of the road it was headed for, or place it in a safe, not to be disturbed, pile of leaves. Since they are migrating to find a sheltered spot for the winter, the goal is to get it to the side of the path or street where it can find cover. You can use a leaf or a stick to nudge it in the desired direction, or carry it carefully on a leaf and place it in a suitable spot with other leaves to hibernate. by @genesisnatives
