Meet our first group from around the world, which is connected by one exceptional thing: Genius.

Dr. Alfred Barrios discovered 24 traits that repeatedly appear in people who do extraordinary things.

Drive. Curiosity. Courage. A Sense of Humor. Imagination. And 19 more.

These 24 people bring those traits to life in entirely different worlds, backgrounds, and disciplines.

What connects them isn’t a test score or a title.

It’s something far more interesting: the potential that already exists within all of us, waiting to be recognized, developed, and put to use.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll meet 48 unique people from all walks of life and discover more about the traits we all share, and how you, too, can develop your own Genius potential.

Miguel Lugo was nine when the streets claimed him as a gang member. Later, facing a life sentence, he became honest with himself and told the whole truth.

Genius Trait #5 of 24: HONESTY.

"Geniuses are frank, forthright and honest. Take the responsibility for things that go wrong. Be willing to admit, 'I goofed,' and learn from your mistakes." Dr. Alfred Barrios

Having rebuilt his own life, he now helps other former gang members put their lives back together. To a lot of young men who grew up on the same streets he did, Miguel is the first living proof they have ever seen that a life can be turned around, and that a way out is real.

Behind the scenes of Genius Trait #5 of 24: HONESTY, featuring Miguel Lugo.

This story took us far beyond the interview chair.

We sat down with Miguel to hear his story in his own words, then got in the car with him and drove through the places connected to his life and the community he is part of today.

Along the way, he showed us the streets, the people and the places that hold meaning for him, giving us a much deeper look at the journey behind the person you see on screen.

There is something different about hearing someone tell their story while standing in the places where it all actually happened.

And with Miguel, Honesty lays at the centre of all of it.

No rewriting the past. No pretending it was something else. Just owning it, learning from it, and using that experience to help other people build something better out of their own lives.

These are some of the people, conversations, and moments behind his film.

Thank you to Miguel, the @homeboyindustries community and the @txlfilms crew for opening the door and helping us tell this story.

The man who pulled him into the gang was sitting across the desk. He thought Miguel had come for revenge.

What Miguel did next tells you everything about who he had become.

Genius Trait #5 of 24: HONESTY.

“Geniuses are frank, forthright and honest. Take the responsibility for things that go wrong. Be willing to admit, ‘I goofed,’ and learn from your mistakes.” - Dr. Alfred Barrios

When Miguel Lugo walked out of prison, he was lost. The tattoos told everyone where he had been. Nobody would hire him. The only life he knew was the one he was trying to leave.

He showed up at @homeboyindustries to pick up the pieces: remove the tattoos, learn a trade, build an honest life. Then he walked into a counselor’s office and found himself face to face with the man who had indoctrinated him into his former gang. The man panicked, certain Miguel was there for vengeance. Miguel smiled and embraced him. No ill will. He knew forgiveness was the only path forward.

Redemption starts with honesty. Miguel rebuilt his life by owning every part of his story, and today he helps men coming home from prison do the same.

Who is one person you could forgive this week?

Full story WEDNESDAY.

Two people can see the same danger.

Only one of them knows exactly what they’re looking at.

Genius Trait #4 of 24: KNOWLEDGE.

«Geniuses continually accumulate information. Never go to sleep without learning something new.» - Dr. Alfred Barrios

Forrest Galante is a wildlife biologist who built his life studying animals most people instinctively fear, and he didn’t get comfortable around sea snakes by accident. He got there through years of painstaking fieldwork and preparation, the kind that happens long before cameras roll.

«What genius means to me is awareness, consciousness, understanding that your words, they make a difference.» - Forrest Galante

Be honest. Would you get in the water with a shark if you had the knowledge of knowing exactly what you were dealing with?

This is Forrest’s world.

Giant Galapagos tortoises, venomous snakes, and great white sharks.

Behind the scenes with @forrest.galante, years of hard-earned knowledge reveal themselves in the smallest details. He reads what others might miss: a shift in an animal’s behavior, the signals that invite a closer look, and the ones that tell you when it’s time to step back.

For our crew @txlfilms , the shoot became a front-row seat to Forrest’s world, from reptiles on land to heading out on his boat and meeting an actual great white in the ocean.

This is KNOWLEDGE, not just knowing the facts, but knowing what they mean when it matters.

Swipe to go behind the scenes of Genius Trait #4.

Which animal would you want Forrest to take you into the wild to see?

Watch Forrest’s full story in our latest Reel and follow us for more true stories every Wednesday on @geniusworldinc 🌍

Most people who come that close to a Sea Snake immediately pull back. Not Forrest Galante.

And that’s no accident. It’s the result of a life spent studying the world’s most venomous and deadly snakes and reptiles.

Forrest has spent years learning to identify which ones actually pose a real threat and which ones only appear like they do.

This hard won knowledge isn’t just one lucky guess in the field. It’s thousands of hours of work and research before the camera ever turns on. Books. Fieldwork. Trial and error long before getting it right on screen.

That is KNOWLEDGE. Genius Trait #4 of 24.

Swipe to meet Forrest. What’s something you used to fear before you understood it?

His full story drops this Wednesday.

Learn Quik Mix Theory from the man who created it. 🎶 The masterclass is here.

In this special bonus masterclass, Grandmaster Flash, @djflash4eva, puts his hands on the vinyl and walks us through finger placement, working with the needles and finding the break, before showing Quik Mix Theory in action.

As a teenager in the Bronx, he wanted to keep the best few seconds of a record going. That idea helped shape hip hop.

Today also marks the release of his new book, Birth of a Culture, written with Scoop Jackson and published by @amistadbooks. Congratulations, Flash!

Send this to a DJ or a music lover who needs to see it.

The masterclass is also available on the Genius World YouTube channel, link in bio. 🎧 taken in New York, New York by @geniusworldinc
