Y’all masking?

This is the end of the disconnect of having “covid conscious” in my bio, yet no proof of me walking the walk in my posts using the most effective way to mitigate the spread of the airborne disease: masking. The pandemic continues to kill and disable millions, with Nature Medicine estimating 400 million people (5% of the population!) have Long Covid. With every infection the chance of getting Long Covid increases, so the number of disabled and dead folks will continue to rise. Even though transmission numbers are higher than when masking was at its highest in 2020 and 2021, people have stopped. One of the biggest reasons? Social pressure. The pressure to fit in, the pressure to not stand out, the pressure to “look good”. That same social pressure pushed me to not post any pictures of myself masked on social media, thus inadvertently contributing to that pressure. But I’ve accepted that protecting ourselves and our fellow people is far more important than “looking good”. It’s never too late to start masking again! 😷 by @genki97
