Stefanie Chae (G ‘23, @bystefaniechae) recently published an essay in @businessinsider discussing the benefits of communications degrees. In her essay, Stefanie reflects on her education in Georgetown University’s Communication, Culture, and Technology Master’s program.

She highlights how the skills and experiences she made while earning her communications degrees have prepared her for success in her current role as a Digital Studies Professor in the University of Mary Washington’s Communication and Digital Studies department.

This Week in CCT Faculty News:

CCT Adjunct Professor Stephen Minnig recently appeared on the podcast @99percentinvisible to discuss the importance of trust and accessibility in communications. During the episode, Professor Minnig explained how toll-free, 1-800 numbers protect consumers’ interests and support human-to-human connection amid the current boom in chatbots.

Professor Minnig has been an adjunct professor at CCT since 2001, teaching courses in product development and machine learning while also supporting student-led start-ups.

Big news from CCT! Congratulations to Dr. Meg Leta Jones for being appointed as CCT’s next Faculty Chair!

Dr. Jones is founding faculty member of the @digitalethicsgeorgetown and a faculty affiliate with the Institute for Technology Law & Policy at Georgetown Law Center, where she co-teaches a CCT-student favorite course, the Technology Impact Lab. Her collaborative work brings together students and scholars to bridge theory to practice and to engage critically with the social impacts of technology.

💙🤍 Welcome back CCT!
Last week, we kicked off the start of classes with a welcome back party for the CCT community! New and returning students, along with faculty and staff came together to celebrate, share food, and start the semester on a high note.
