Some pics back from @pnw_cosplay_events open shoot in August of my favorite horse girl Rin!! Isuzu was a cosplay that I legit just pulled from my closet to match with a friend!🙈 I ended up really liking the style and I definitely felt like I was just in normal clothes lol

I think one of the biggest things I’ve realized lately is that somewhere between being a mom, becoming a single mom, working, trying to heal, and trying to set my girls and myself up for a GOOD future...I stopped caring so much about whether everybody accepts me.
Like genuinely.
I don’t feel like I owe everybody an explanation for my silence anymore. If I stopped talking, stopped showing up, stopped trying to squeeze myself into certain spaces or quietly removed myself, just know it was necessary.
There was no benefit to me being there anymore.
And I don’t even mean “benefit” in some selfish, "what can you do for me kind of way."
I mean there was no peace there. No growth. No genuine friendship. No reciprocity. Nothing that made me better, healthier, safer or happier.
So I stopped forcing it.
Square peg, round hole. 🤷‍♀️ I could keep shaving pieces off myself trying to fit somewhere I clearly don’t belong, or I could finally accept...girl, this just ain’t your damn hole. 😂
And funny enough, sometimes once you stop showing up and stop playing whatever role people became comfortable with you playing, THAT becomes the problem.
Eh.
Don’t care.
Because I’ve changed. For the better.
And some of the people who were perfectly comfortable around me when I was at my lowest are simply not people I care to associate with anymore. That includes certain “friend groups,” although let’s be real, I wouldn’t even call most of those relationships friendships now. Even modeling spaces, social circles, whatever. Nah. I’m branching off.
I know what friendship feels like.
That wasn’t it.
Maybe that’s maturity. Maybe it’s exhaustion. Maybe it’s my depression occasionally saying, “girl, fuck these people.” 🤷‍♀️🖕😂 ... Who knows? Probably a little bit of everything.
But there’s something else I’ve realized too.
Do you know how GOOD it feels to accomplish something huge and know that I did it myself?
I got into a master’s program.
ME.
I actually did that.
And I did it without Jordan.
That part means more to me than I can really explain.
Because there was a time when I was genuinely scared of that man. If I’m being by @georgevpw

I swear I can instill confidence in everybody else all day long. 😂 I can tell somebody exactly why they’re beautiful, why they deserve better, why one person not choosing them doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with them, why they shouldn’t shrink themselves just because somebody else couldn’t appreciate what they had.

But myself personally? Yeah.. That’s where I struggle.

And lately I’ve been feeling really low about myself. Like REALLY low sometimes. Not fishing for compliments, not wanting anybody to come tell me how pretty I am, because honestly I already know what people are going to say. It’s just this feeling I can’t quite shake.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the town everybody just blows through.

You know the kind. 😂 You stop because you need gas. Maybe some snacks. Maybe you have to pee. Maybe you’re tired and need somewhere convenient for a minute before continuing on to wherever you were actually trying to go.

Nobody came there because they wanted to stay.

And somehow that’s what dating and relationships have started making me feel like.

Convenient enough to stop at. Good enough to enjoy for a little while. Good enough for company, affection, sex, conversation, comfort, food, attention, whatever somebody needed at that particular point in their life.

And then eventually they keep driving.

It reminds me of Aberdeen, Washington. I used to live there and anybody from around here probably knows EXACTLY what I mean. 😂 Aberdeen can look dingy as hell. For a lot of people it’s basically that place you drive through on your way to somewhere else. Westport, the coast, the Olympics, wherever. Stop. Get what you need. Keep going...
Funny thing is, if you actually LOOK at Aberdeen and the geography surrounding it, it is beautiful.

Like genuinely beautiful.

There are rivers, trees, mountains not far beyond it, the harbor, all this nature surrounding this little town people barely give a second thought to because they’re too busy trying to get THROUGH it.

It’s literally called the Gateway to the Olympics for a reason.

And I guess lately I’ve been wondering if maybe that’s how I feel about myself.

Maybe there is beauty here. Maybe there is more to me by @georgevpw

Sakura Kinomoto in her summer matsuri yukata for Chibi Chibi Con!

This was a fun cosplay because I needed to learn some basic kitsuke (kimono dressing) for it.
