Thanks to Cartersville City School Superintendent Marc Feuerbach and his leadership team for coming by the Quick Start Cartersville Training Center this week. Northern Ops Director Bruce Batton gave the 5-star tour and was proud as always to share the myriad ways that Quick Start is putting the facility to use training Georgia's best.

September is Workforce Development Month and Quick Start is proud to celebrate the hardworking team that help make Georgia one of the best states for new and growing industries. Every year more and more businesses decide to make Georgia their new home and that is thanks in no small part to the workforce development progress made possible by the best team in the business. Last week, @govkemp and First Lady Marty Kemp paid a visit to the @toyota_industries_ Electrical Systems (TIES) plant to celebrate its Grand Opening. Quick Start Deputy Commissioner @Scott McMurray was present to commemorate Quick Start's ongoing partnership with TIES, as state officials and TIES representatives, including President Sadanori Suzuki, hammered open a cask of sake to mark the occasion. Originally announced in 2023, the plant in Jackson County projects that it will hire 250 work-ready Georgians, deepening the longstanding partnership between Toyota and the state.

When our @bostondynamicsofficial Spot came by to receive his new look, he demanded we let him head out into the world to show off. Chad was nice enough to open the door for him, but we haven't seen him since. If you see a very stylish canine automaton fishing for compliments, please inform the Quick Start offices as soon as you can. We miss our buddy terribly.

Deputy Commissioner Scott McMurray traveled to the Fayetteville to discuss the current and future role of robotics in manufacturing at the 2026 RoboGeorgia Summit. As automation becomes a much larger part of modern manufacturing, it's great to see so many different organizations work together to explore the limits and implications of the tech impacting our state's major industries.

Quick Start Deputy Commissioner Scott McMurray and the Quick Start team paid a visit to the @rivianofficial plant in Normal Illinois to learn from the source how the Rivian R2s are produced. Visits like this are crucial for strengthening our partnership with Rivian and aid in the creation of the training programs that will prepare employees for work at the upcoming plant in Social Circle Georgia.

Before workers build cars, they can practice in virtual reality. ISyE’s Mohsen Moghaddam is leading a project to develop a VR training platform that helps workers at Kia Georgia’s West Point, GA facility practice production tasks before stepping onto the factory floor.

“Through this project and many others, the main question we seek to solve is how can we develop assistive technologies at the intersection of AI, robotics and extended reality (XR) that augment human capabilities rather than replace them,” said Moghaddam. by @georgiaquickstart

Quick Start’s resident robot canine just got a glow-up. Our very own @BostonDynamics Spot paid a visit to the Quick Start HQ and paraded around the building after his makeovers. Despite a few offers, Spot did not accept any treats or belly rubs — he has a job to do training Meta Pros in our Hyundai Mobility Training Center of Georgia how to interact within mobile robots on the @hyundaimetaplant floor. Maybe next time, buddy!

We had the pleasure of talking with former Quick Start communications Manager sheila marigolis. These covers are just a taste of the treasure trove of documents and pictures Sheila shared from her time on the Quick Start team. A huge thank you to Sheila for her insight and the part she played in Quick Start's 60 years of success!

Quick Start has been a staple in Georgia's workforce development strategy since 1966. This 1971 journal on Georgia Industrial Training Services features the earliest mention of Quick Start that we have found thus far. As industries change rapidly around us, it's great to know that quality training never goes out of style!
