I visited the Kelvingrove Museum in Glasgow a little over a month ago. I was charmed by the distinctively romantic tone of Scottish craftsmanship, and felt the inexplicable need to translate Mackintosh's stained glass Glasgow Rose into ceramic.

This comb I referenced is one of many metalsmith works on display by Scottish craftswomen in the early 1900s. The clarity of talent in the craftswomen that came before me has me emotional.

The marked stability of this house glaze I've come to love allows for detailed fettling, and the filling in of underglaze in negative space.

my personal favorite, combining the Glasgow Rose and Art Nouveau symbolism.

very texturally satisfying, worth the hours of fettling!

after latex resist, just before the glaze dunk.

this set that I call The Glasgow Mugs will be available on the site next Monday, August 24, 7PM EST.

worth the effort 💌
double dipped my glaze this round, will be going single dip in the future for crispier lines... though I appreciate the pull away from "perfection"! #illustratedceramics taken in Brooklyn, New York by @georgiashands

and the illusion of discernment

I'm really enjoying painting script, and firing an unglazed, burnished outer for a raw texture. I surprise myself at what I commit to. Five different script pots, on the site this wednesday 🫂 #illustratedceramics by @georgiashands
