Research that improves the human condition
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
@gt_chbe & @coulterbme researchers found that where mRNA therapies enter the GI tract influences where they travel in the body, opening new possibilities for vaccines, gene therapies, and GLP-1 treatments while limiting off-target effects.

🤖 Can AI Be Surprised?

What happens when an AI assistant gets a question it can’t answer, a self-driving vehicle encounters something unusual, or an autonomous factory faces an unexpected disruption?

Humans naturally recognize when something doesn’t fit our expectations and adjust. Machines, however, typically don’t have that ability.

Researchers in Georgia Tech’s H. Milton Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) are working to change that.

Led by ISyE professor Yu Ding, the research team developed a new framework called Mutual Information Surprise, which helps autonomous systems recognize when something important and unexpected has happened, determine whether it matters, and decide how to respond. by @georgiatechresearch

@southeastanalog is a Georgia Tech-based, student-run space program that trains for spaceflight with Earth-based missions. In August, SEA sent six students to simulate a mission to Mars at @titanranch in Arkansas. For 10 days, the team conducted experiments, managed limited resources, and lived in isolation to learn what it’s like to be an astronaut. #WeCanDoThat 🚀🧑‍🚀👩‍🚀🐝

A music legend meets cutting-edge Georgia Tech research. 🎶🤖

Legendary Indian composer Maestro Ilaiyaraaja visited the Georgia Tech Center for Music Technology to experience some of the latest research coming out of our School of Music.

🎵 Robots that listen, respond, and improvise
🎻 AI + robotics designed for Carnatic music
🤟 Technology making music more accessible
🎧 Immersive spatial audio that surrounds the listener

At Georgia Tech, music research isn’t just about what we hear — it’s exploring entirely new ways for people and technology to create together.

Take a look inside the lab. 👀

For decades, scientists believed the immune system naturally weakens as we age. Georgia Tech researchers have discovered a way to deliver molecular instructions to “exhausted” T cells — restoring the ability to multiply and fight diseases.

Silicon nanowires deliver new biological instructions without damaging the cells — producing effects that last about two weeks. The body’s cells still grow older, but now they may not have to act like it. #WeCanDoThat 🐝🔬

Pascal Van Hentenryck is leading a team of ISyE faculty helping shape AI-driven manufacturing through a nearly $20 million @nsfgov initiative led by Georgia Tech.

Joining the effort are Nagi Gebraeel, Roshan Joseph, Kamran Paynabar, Eunhye Song, Xiaochen Xian, and Yao Xie, bringing expertise in AI, machine learning, optimization, and systems engineering to accelerate scientific discovery.

“Manufacturing is moving toward intelligent, autonomous, and interconnected systems that can learn, adapt, and accelerate innovation,” said Pinar Keskinocak, the H. Milton and Carolyn J. Stewart School Chair of ISyE. “This award positions ISyE and Georgia Tech at the forefront of that transformation. By combining ISyE’s strengths in AI and systems engineering with interdisciplinary collaboration and state-of-the-art facilities, this initiative will accelerate scientific discovery and autonomous manufacturing, and create new opportunities to tackle complex challenges in engineering and manufacturing.” by @georgiatechresearch
