I am selecting work for @craftfestival for this weekend 12th - 14th June in Bovey Tracey

SOUND MASKS · ENGLAND 2026

From 1–7 November, we’ll be in Totnes, England, sharing a new Sound Masks residency in collaboration with @studio2pottery.totnes .

A week of intensive work exploring sound ceramics, mask making, sound and fire.

The process will include the construction of a temporary brick kiln and a wood firing, accompanying the pieces from their making through to their final activation.

The images shared here are from residencies held in 2026 in Patagonia, Argentina; Brazil; Puerto Rico; and Portugal.

The residency is open to everyone.

Time to reflect on things.
After a swift studio clear up post @devonopenstudios we have come on holiday to Brittany.
It’s a privilege being an artist. The door was open and life came in. I get so much from these events, not least selling my work but the interactions that happen.
You’ll have to watch to the end of the clip for a loose summary.

It’s all about the right tool for the job. I was gifted some wooden tools last year that belonged to sculptor Barry Hart that taught Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore! They’re such lovely quality and feel so smooth. I love using them and thinking of their provenance.

This red clay is a favourite to use though it really creates a mess in the studio. My main work desk stained red, as am I, after a days work with it.

I’ve made some more teapots to add to this weeks collection. Slow drying for them then firing & glazing.

Clay is a slow process. In its own creation and working with it.

I find a cheese scone and great coffee from @canteentotnes helps the day along :)

I love making teapots and usually make two or three at the same time. They all take on a different character in the group, hopefully there’s a jaunty one that’s my favourite.

I put an X on the lid to ensure it goes back into the same place each time. You’d think it would be obvious or just round but you know I’m human and it’s handmade :)
