When I’m not feeling as inspired to flow but still want to move, I love doing these types of drills with a soft ball. 🥰

The first one is a favorite for conditioning my body for handstands. The ball adds a nice challenge for slow, controlled movement patterns while also working on coordination. Keep your legs lifted high as you lower down, only going as far as you can while keeping your back flat on the mat. The lower the legs, the harder it gets.

Read each caption for the details, and let me know which one you’ll try. ☺️🙏🏽

Keep squeezing the ball as you lower to tabletop—keeping the knees hovered.

Aim to open the hip flexors in three legged dog without dropping the ball. Tap knee to armpit or as high as possible above the elbow.

Same thing, just adding the side plank. Make sure you do both sides.

Lift the head as you lower the legs. I like to squeeze the glutes at the lowest part for a quick 1 second. Another great one for handstands.

I think we all know the Dead Bug—just a lil spicy with the ball and keeping the head high at all times. Modify by resting your head down.

Keeping the legs elevated with the ball squeezed is a bit more challenging than resting your feet down.

Same as the 5th slide, except the head is lifted at all times. Burns more and a great way to strengthen the neck muscles (like coming up from backbends).

If the Dead Bug with the ball is hard, start here. by @georginaflows

Just going upside down over here. Hollowback with the wall is my go-to stretch here in our cute airbnb… I honestly can’t believe I’m saying this because our last airbnb was probably 2012! 🙈😆

And don’t worry, I didn’t leave any 🦶🏼 marks on the wall.

Straddle press to handstand drills ⚡️

You don’t need to practice all of these drills in one day. Pick what you want for the day, and go from there. I’m just sharing with you all the drills I started practicing before I even learned how to do a handstand.

One day it just clicked! I surprisingly pressed from a straddle position 6 yrs ago, and I still remember how happy I was, screaming and jumping, that I’ll forever treasure to this day.

It was the first entry I unlocked to get to handstands. I cannot jump (believe it or not, it scares me) so I learned the hard way of pressing first.

There are so many tips, tricks, and ways to learn how to press. It’s literally all over the internet now and back when I was learning this, I couldn’t find anything at all. So I truly learned this from a lot of practice and self-discovery. It just improved through the years of consistent training.

But if there’s one thing I want to emphasize in my journey, it was because of my yoga practice that taught me the power of visualization and moving with the breath. From there, I worked on mobility first — lots and lots of it. The strength I gathered from pressing came from the asana part of my practice. It was before I started lifting weights and doing calisthenics. And this could be different for everyone.

These drills are all the drills I worked on ‘before’ getting my straddle press to handstands and up to now, they are still a staple in my practice... and it continues to evolve each day.

The last two slides were my warm-up on this day but you also don’t need all that. Just showing you how I prepped almost daily to actually condition my body to doing a handstand or all the deep backbends that I love. ♥️

And throughout this journey, I have been using @mandukayoga since. I have a discount for you if you use my code: ‘GEORGINAFLOWS20’ ☺️🙏🏽 by @georginaflows

Love this yoga sequence! Come and play along!!! 🙌🏽

Saw this yesterday from @tinyyogamom and immediately wanted to try! She’s become one of my faves here if you haven’t checked her account yet. ☺️

Practicing on my @mandukayoga PRO Long & Wide Yoga Mat. The best one for the gym! Literally so HUGE! Not the biggest (because I just saw that they now have a bigger one! 😆). Here’s the dimension for reference:

Edit: 79” x 53” — yep, it’s a big mat! Perfect for weighted workouts, yoga, or pilates. We had this particular one for about 5 or maybe even 6 yrs now. Latex-free and I swear, it gets better and grippier overtime.

You only pay $230.40 USD with my code: ‘GEORGINAFLOWS20’

That saves you $57.60 from the original price of $288 USD, a great investment. My husband use this regularly. Sounds like a promotion 😆 lol but NOT SPONSORED. I’ve been using Manduka for 9 solid yrs now. It’s literally everywhere in our home. If you’ve been here for a while now, you know! 💯🙌🏽☺️ by @georginaflows

Handstand toe taps — one of my favorites to test my strength, compression, and a full body activation.

What I missed the most while traveling in our RV was all the hanging stuff — we just don’t have anywhere to do it! So naturally, this was the first thing I wanted to get back to.

I think the desert and I have a complicated relationship… I just recovered from an excruciating migraine right when I got back here. 😅🏜️🌵 So not as much sets as I’d like but this is how we’re getting back at it slowly but surely. As much as I love it here, it clearly doesn’t love me back. 😆 by @georginaflows
