Sun Bridge 🌞 🌉 🏀

I made the Jumbotron! Public art edition:
From center court to the Modelo Bridge at Barclays Center.

Honored to see “Sun Bridge,” my mural commission at Barclays Center, featured on the arena screens during Modelo Noche Latina as the Brooklyn Nets faced the Orlando Magic Jan. 7, 2026.

Two appearances that night, first on the court, passing the opening ball amidst warm-ups as the game came to life.
Second appearance in front of my mural at the Modelo Bridge, featured as a local Brooklyn artist of the night in between 1st & 2nd quarter.

Then back to the skybox with my family, witnessing the work live in the world it was made for.

Grateful for the invitation, the recognition, and the full-circle moment.

As the new Terminal A opens today @ Newark Liberty International Airport I am Delighted to greet you in to this beautiful indigenous land with a Sea Goddess inspired by the wonders of the beach.

Goodbye Summer 2026. You were epic. Miss you!

I share with Amaru that vacation means a break from the system, that system can be school, work or a structured way of life. We break from all that in the summer. And we connect to our selves, home, Pachamama. We connect with father sky when we fly and birdwatch. We burn what holds us back with the summer fires. Wash away our worries and fears with the medicinal iodine & magnesium waters of Yemaya. We sit with the earth to feel her love, and love her back.

These summer days reminded me of when Amaru was homeschooled, before society touched him, when he was all mine. But now he is the universe’s sun.

Thanks you Dada for the wonderful Cali escape. Queen Califa always welcomes us with open arms. What a lovely reunion with our L.A., S.D. & Santa Ana hommies, reminiscing of the good ol’ Cali daze. Thank you tio Eloy for Amaru’s epic Nintendo world adventure.

Thank you New Jersey & Pennsylvania woods, for showing Amaru & I that we always have you for a frequency calibration. For teaching us that a vacation means connecting with nature.

For me as a child, vacation always meant going back to the Amazon jungle, reconnecting with Pachamama and saving up all that joy and energy inside my heart and soul for my return. For the moments I felt out of place, when I felt like the other in capitalist Gringolandia. I would gather up a bit of that magic I kept in my heart from the Amazon, for strength to exist in this concrete jungle.

ARTS AND CULTURE ARE THE FOUNDATION OF THIS COMMUNITY. WE ARE A CITY OF CREATORS. by Akintola Hanif, Danielle Scott, GERALUZ, The Aljira Archive Project, and Jeygo by Jerry Gant (Courtesy of Pink Dragon Artist Syndicate). 📍591–501 Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Blvd.

This citywide initiative transforms more than 20 vacant storefronts into an immersive arts corridor featuring work by 25 local artists and organizations. Through window-based installations, A CITY OF CREATORS connects artists, small businesses, and neighborhood stories, reimagining vacant retail spaces as sites of creativity, visibility, and opportunity. 
🎨 This installation celebrates Newark’s rich arts and cultural legacy through the work of artists and archives that have shaped the city’s identity. Danielle Scott (@artistdaniellescott) explores migration as a defining force in Newark’s cultural landscape, while GERALUZ (@geraluz) envisions the city as a social quilt through geometric patterns. Akintola Hanif (@hycide_hyze) documents Newark’s communities through intimate portraiture, creating lasting records of the city’s people and history. The late Jerry Gant (@jerrygantlegacy) drew from Newark’s 1980s graffiti movement to create a bold visual language rooted in community and empowerment. Selections from The Aljira Archive Project (@thealjiraarchiveproject) honor the enduring legacy of one of Newark’s most influential cultural institutions.

Located in the arts and education district, this block sits within a five-minute walk of galleries, museums, public art, and performance spaces that continue to shape the city’s creative landscape.
